3850FL Sewer Hose Storage is not adequate

Keystone really needs to put some forethought into seemingly minute details such as the length of the provided sewer hose storage tube that is located along the frame at the front of the rig. The hose storage tube is not long enough to even hold our basic Rhino-Flex 15' hose when compressed. Not sure what it fits nor what it was sized for??

Did they take the storage compartment away?

I don't think there was ever a storage compartment on the 3850 due to the back door and the slide locations. Valve handles are under the bedroom slide, galley handle is under the kitchen slide. Sewer connection is adjacent to rear steps next to bedroom slide. The 3750 had the best configured sewer storage on any rig in my opinion. I do miss that!

Here is a pic showing what is provided on the 3850:

Definitely not user friendly besides being too small!

My swing out storage tube is coming off. Do not like it. The tube hinge was placed about 1 ft to far forward, the tube will only swing out 45 deg, straight out trom the RV. Not even good for storage.

We rarely swing out the sewer storage tube, just gets in the way. We keep a 10 foot hose inside the tube with a cap on it for travel. Keep a couple different lengths in basement for connecting. Have also, for long stay hookups, disconnected the flex tube and hooked up directly to the fitting from the tanks to keep hose under trailer. Have thought of installing a couple of storage tubes under trailer and removing the swing storage.

Immediately after our first trip in the Monty I removed the swivel storage tube. It was not placed so that the tube could be rotated to the rear where most hookups are and was a PITA. I put a blade valve at the main sewer connection and use a clear fitting to see when the tanks are drained and clean.

I use a large tub that seals well and all my hoses and fittings go in that. I store it in the storage compartment while traveling and put it under a slide when parked. I carry at least 40' of hose.

That thing under the new Montana is an insult to our intelligence and a disgrace considering what we have to pay for these units.

But think of it this way Bingo, it is another Mod you can undertake and it does not involve electrical wiring....

We had enough with ours on the last trip and removed it. I bought end caps for both ends of the hoses and store them in a bin in the storage compartment.

A company as big as Keystone would have their ear on the wall listening to request as inportant as this item is. they could produce a tube in the under belly or basement with a door attached for access to the sewer line.

There is one available about a foot longer. I will soon have two. Because of Goshen fairgrounds and similar places, I keep about 40 feet on board.

Clarify that statement Larry. Are you saying Keystone has two different lengths of these smoke colored storage tubes? One foot longer of the same thing is exactly what I need.

There are actually two longer ones available. I saw them at CW. I replaced ours before we ever took the unit camping, plus I cut over half of the flexible cover off to let the boom swing to the back of the trailer. Last, I cut a bit off the sewer pipe and glued on a combination gate valve and clear plastic connector with a garden hose fitting for cleaning out everything.

We dropped our boom and went with a square PVC end post from plastic fencing. Bingo what they put on yours is beyond too small.

Bingo, I seen a guy mount a 5 inch square plastic tube, the ones that are used for post for this plastic fence. Had a cap on each end and it was mounted to the frame, one side to the other. looked really factory. But yes the one that is on the coach is junk., Brent

I will definitely be doing something different. I may replace the factory nonsense with a longer one and in addition do a cross-rig installation as well. I carry in excess of 50 feet of sewer line (from experience) and do not enjoy having to take up basement space for it. I currently have a rubbermaid tote as well as a five gallon bucket that is dedicated to our sewer line items. (It will be thinned down to the necessities!)

I did what Tom S did. Been working well for over 3 years. I guess a fella could fill up a storage compartment with electrical cords, water hoses, and sewer hoses he MIGHT need. Last year; 30' of sewer, 75' water, 100' electrical, and 200' Telly cable. Next year, not so much.
