What type of PC in your Monty
I was just wondering if most people carry a laptop or a desktop pc in their Monty?
Thanks.

Buck,
We carry laptops for several reasons:
more portable
more resistant to vibration
take up less room
easy to move to another room, outside, or to the TV when needed
easy to add an external keyboard and monitor
easy to set up with a wireless card (or comes with integrated
wireless, which will save battery more than an external card)
just as capable as a desktop, these days
I said laptops because, if we only had one, our trips might be a lot shorter due to friction.

We each have a laptop. Glen has the old one. I have the new one! We also travel with one in the truck, using Streets and Trips to get around places and find directions. We can even pull into a motel parking lot and check our email in some places, like the Yukon. Laptop is the only way for us.

2 His and Her Laptops. Mine is the newer and the primary unit. It is used for everything from online banking to the internet to a few online games. When we are on the road it is in the front seat with us. Having an air card we can typically get online even while traveling down the hiways. I have often posted a reply to this forum while sitting in a rest stop. As we travel without reservations I will often do a Google search for area campgrounds just an hour or so before stopping for the day.
Lorraine's contains her spread sheets and is also used for most offline games. We will probably replace her's before we leave Florida.

Yup, his and hers laptops. It wasn't the plan, but became the pragmatic reality. We have a 17" desktop replacement and discovered it was cumbersome in the TV. So I bought a 12" tablet or notebook. This is the one that is lightest and most portable. When the screen is turned and laid on top of the keyboard, it is only about 9" by 12" and the mouse is an electronic pen. It is complete with handwriting recognition software which learns. It is great for taking notes at meetings too.

Laptop here. I have it travel in the front closet so it wont get bounced around. I do have the printer in the rear though and it has survived some really bouncy roads.

Laptop and a small inkjet. Laptop has all of the connections such as Wi-Fi etc. Love the laptop: small and portable.

The desktops stay at home. we have two HP laptops, Both are fairly new, Mine has the bigger screen. We will install my laptop in the 3400 along with the printer. Her laptop serves as the GPS in the truck. We do all of our bill paying and correspondence on line. We have been relying on Wifi for internet access, so far it has been ok..we will see when we start long timing. We order the 3400 in 12 days..

When we hit the road we take a laptop. As mentioned above because of ease of handling.

I had both in my rv last year. The only thing about the desk top I had to remember was to put the monitor under the desk on the floor. This year I will be using the laptop and the desktop will stay home, I want to be able to use the laptop in the truck or a rest area and do not really need to have 2 computers in the coach again this year.

We use a laptop for all of the same reasons as above, and I like to "surf the web" when we are driving for long trips.

I have both desktop and laptop but have to admit that the desktop is a pain to tear down and set up.

2 laptops, small cannoon i70 printer, small Cannon Lide scanner, all purchased for research trips/libraries and RVing. Have written more than 1 book with a laptop, as far as I can see they are equal to the desktop, at least for my use(s).

We travel with an HP laptop and a Canon Pixma iP5000 printer; for all the reasons listed. Laptop travels in the cab with us so we can check streets/maps; then goes into the Monty when we stop for the night.

Ditto re. laptop and Wi-Fi! Do all banking and bill paying etc. and stay in touch w/kids and friends while on the road. We look for CGs w/Wi-Fi or stop at Flying J. Got a great little Canon printer, too, that takes almost no room to store. Works well!

We have a laptop and a printer. The laptop goes up front on one of the e-bay computer stands in the truck when we travel, connected to a Garmin 60C GPS while running Delorme Street Atlas 2006. I would like a smaller laptop for the truck, but it is nice other times having the widescreen on my HP.

4 laptops, Epson photo/text printer, scanner, assorted miscellaneous accessories. Three of the laptops sit on the bed when underway. The fourth belongs to the truck and is used with the gps when underway. The laptops are great for ease of packing them up and storing them on the bed. Plus, I can sit here in this lazyboy with the laptop on my lap as it is right now and still see Vicki and the TV and be comfortable doing it.

Glenn and Lorraine - Would you explain what an "air card" is and how it works. I am very interested in using a desktop while moving on, but am unfamiliar with that term.
Thanks.
