leveler control panel power

On my 2018 3120RL I noticed that even with the battery disconnect switch off there is still power to my leveler control panel when you turn the panel on. I was wondering if this is normal and if so could the hydraulic electrical system be drawing down the batteries slowly. Has anyone else noticed this?

All of them that I have seen are wired that way. The battery cut off switch in the wet bay is in line after the leveling/slide out hydraulic pump. It also does not shut off the power to the carbon monoxide & propane detectors. Yes, all of those things have a small "keep alive" memory/sensing draw that will kill your battery over the course of a couple of days, to a week or two, depending on the size & health of your battery(ies). Many of us have installed a true disconnect switch right at the battery that truly will kill ALL power from the battery. Just be sure that noone will be occupying the trailer while the switch is turned off, for the above mentioned reasons.

Thanks for the reply. You confirmed my suspicions. I will be putting adding another shut off on my list of things to do. I have never installed one with a dual 12V battery set up before. I assume you just add the switch between the positive lead from battery to wherever it connects to the electronics??

Yes, most everyone installs it inline between the battery & the circuit breakers that are mounted on the rear wall of the battery compartment. While you’re in there, replace the circuit breaker that feeds the hydraulic system with an 80 amp one as has been suggested by Lippert instead of the 40or 50 amp one supplied by Keystone.
