I concur, I don't use it, never have. I prefer to look out the back window or use the cameras in my F250. Mine discolored right from the start so it was no big deal. Found a great American eagle and flag decal that I stuck over it.

I wanted to be able to use the mirror but unfortunately I get an image that is useless. It is still in great shape though.

I don't use the mirror either! I have a crew cab tow vehicle and there is a small loop connected to the back of the back seat right in the middle of it at the top. I have taken a wooden clip clothes pin and clipped it to that loop. I have also painted a white strip exactly down the middle of my hitch on the Monte. When I get ready to hook up, I just look in my rearview mirror in the cab and line the clothes pin up with the white stripe. Works every time and I can even hook the unit up if it is at a slight angle just by lining up the end of clothes pin and white stripe.

a long paragraph to say the 'mirror' on the trailer sucks. One of the dumest ideas out there.

I have never used it, just turn you head and look at the hitch...keep it simple

Ours started turning black also, looked terrible soon after getting ours. One afternoon my husband got out the car wax and when he put on mirror it turned it black in that spot so he just kept applying. Ours is solid black now and matches well with the black stripping. Has not had to reapply after many washing. Please do not do if you do not want it black. He could not use our mirror either due to tool box blocking view.

Had mine replaced at last year's rally. I was told that the streaks come from water getting in behind the mirror, and that's where the reflective coating is. After they installed the new one, I sealed it with silicone caulk. So far, it is still clear. Time will tell. I do use it the last few inches of hooking up so I don't bang the pin into the jaws too hard.
