Fridge light issues

When we were at the rally last year, we bought a new light for our fridge since ours had quit. There was a vendor selling LED lights, so we bought an LED fridge light. Unfortunately, this light really wanted to be a strobe light and not a fridge light.

We went to the Tampa RV show In January and the same vendor was there. We explained the problem and the guy handed us a new one. Guess what? After a few weeks it also decided to become a strobe light!

My question is: has anyone else had a similar experience with LED fridge lights, or are we the only unlucky ones? The fridge is a Dometic 1350 RV fridge. I think we’ll buy a regular fridge light.

Could be a cheap, Chinese LED light, or a bad connection. LEDs are really sensitive to connection, especially ground. & polarity in DC circuits. If the vendor just handed you a new one without seeing the old one or saying much, my guess is that they are cheap imports. Check the condition of the socket, though. The moisture rich environment of a refrigerator is prime conditions for corrosion. Check the 12v connections at the outside rear of the refrigerator also. As I said before, could be a loose connection, bad ground, or reversed polarity.

Thanks. The funny thing is that both bulbs worked well before going wonky. We will buy a regular bulb and try that.
