New heater won't stay on more than ~90 seconds

First time needing to run the gas heater , 2021 3120 with in command. Temp reads 50 F both front and rear sensors. Settings on the in command are : Mode-HEAT, Source-GAS, Fan- Auto, Vent- Close, vent fan - Off. Temp -50, set-70. Symptoms- runs fan to clear system, after maybe 10 seconds gas ignites as indicated by roar of the furnace, lol. Ran 1-1/2 minutes, kicks off after the floor vents push good heat, and then the ceiling fans come on pushing cold air out of the round outlets. It sounds like the Heat-pump is the source of the round outlets, but cold air after several minutes. I had to turn the heat setting to off for the heat pump-fan to turn off. A Second time retrying it only runs around a minute then again turns off and pushes cold air out of ceiling round outlets.

I tried it on Electric, all the other settings as listed above, but I don't feel heat ever coming out, but the fan ( and a/c sounds like it comes on, just no warm air coming out) does kick on.

I don't have the heater manual , they gave us 2 refer manuals but no heater manual. I am thinking it is probably the settings of the in command , but know from research a key issue is to run on Auto, but can't find any posts dealing with a unit that pushes heat but turns off after running good for about 90 seconds. Hoping it's user error vs malfunctions.

Thanks for any help

Allen

Allen,

Change the fan setting from auto to off.
That will stop the heat pump fan from coming on but the heater fan will come on as needed.

2 things come to mind

internal temp sensor in furnace, if it is not moving enough air it will overheat causing a shutdown. check outside vent, ensure it is completely clear. combustion blockage can cause the same issue.
Check the furnace filter if you have one to ensure it is clean.
Below 50 the heat pump will not generate much heat at all, as there is not much outside to harvest.
Just a few inexpensive suggestions.
Hope it helps you out of a jam.
Good Luck.
Todd

Also there is a resetable 12 v. fuse for the heater. You may want to replace it with a 15 amp fuse.

A little info on the digital thermostat, we have found ours are off by 5 to 8 degrees, I've replaced them both and still have differences. We have mounted several other temp and humidity sensors, those read one temp and the Dometic ones another. it's kinda trial to what you feel comfortable at and then you will have an approximate range.

Thank you all very much.

I'll try it with the fan off tomorrow, and the other suggestions as well.

Thanks

Ok, I tried the heater only changing the Auto to off, unfortunately the furnace fired and lasted just over 3 minutes, then kicked on the heat pump again. I did fire up the fridge on electric, and also the fireplace heater, and on the next try of the Furnace it blew the main surge protector.

I just made up a 50A outlet on my shop's main breaker, and enough extension chord to hook up the RV to 50A power, so I unrolled the chord and tried running the RV with 50A. Unfortunately I also changed the black 15A resettable main fuse to the heater, so my next test didn't tell me if it was power / breaker or solely the breaker change, but the heater now runs without turning itself off!

I also found something I didn't realize about the In Command and it constantly needing to re-type the code every few minutes. There is a setting to allow you to set the delay before it goes into security mode, and I set it to 30 minutes so I don't have to continually enter the code every time I wanted to do anything in the control center. And being in the shop won't allow me to set up the App to just use my phone, but I'll do that next time she is out in the sunlight!

Thanks for all of your help

Allen

On iN·Command you can set passcode to off to eliminate the prompt.

Try changing out resettable 15 amp fuse

We have a (2021) legacy 3231rl and experienced same issues. Had mobile tech come diagnose issue and spoke with keystone. Replaced both sail switch and furnace control board. Neither fixed issue. Was reading on keystone forum and a recommendation to change out the 15amp resettable black stab fuse with a 15 or 20 amp one would fix problem. For us it worked. I replaced with yellow 20amp fuse
Let me know if it works.

If you have one of the Micro Air Easy Touch thermostats, it is a known bug. What I have done is wait for the dual cool/heat icon comes on after switching from away to home then manually selecting Furnace. mode and turned off the AC/Heat Pump breaker. They are working on a fix but I don't like how they are doing it.

Interesting, hope they get a fix so you don't have to turn off the breaker.

Just did 3 days in ours and it worked well with the 20A fuse replacing the 15a resettable, should probably put a 15 in vs the 20.

I love the timer for the heat system, set it this morning and it worked nicely.

Thanks for the replies
