The amber light tucked behind my stairs...

So what turns it on? I have yet to see it lit up.

One of the scare lights when the porch light is not on.

That's what works mine. Seems like it should be tied to the porch light or have a switch of it's own, guess that's another mod.

Previous replies are correct, the step light is controlled by the DS scare light switch. I saw no need in having it turned on by that switch so I rewired it to its own switch. The switch is illuminated when turned on letting me know that the step light is on. The new switch is the one to the right of the Fan-Tastic vent fan control. Tim

Good idea Dick. Let us know how you tie it to the porch light.

Thanks everyone. I suppose that is why I haven't seen it yet...I have never used my "scare lights".

I somehow have broken two of the lens covers on our 2012. Mine works on scare light. Since scare lights are seldom used in campgrounds, having the light, tied together was a bad idea. Outside porch light would be better idea.

Are the wires for the step light located at the control panel?

Yes, they are. On mine, there were 2 sets of wires connected to the DS Flood light switch. I traced the ones back to the step light to determine which ones they actually were (yellow/white IIR) and removed from that switch. I purchased the new switch from local auto parts store. Since it's an illuminated switch I had to splice into a 12v hot wire and used a common ground, all located behind the panel. I couldn't see hooking to porch light since when it's on it lights up the steps, also I don't like having that on anyway. Tim
