Generator question

We currently own a Honda EU3000 generator that we would like to use in the Big Sky. I have been told that I can plumb the generator so that it can be operated safely without having to remove it from the generator compartment for each use. I have also been told that for liability reasons, no dealer or service center will do the work.

It sure would be nice to be able to use the generator without having to lug the weight around. The potential liability issue threw up some red flags and I certainly don't want to do anything that is dangerous or unsafe. What do you guys think?

Get an electrician to give you a price, and explain the proper way to install it, I would suggest an automatic transfer switch, tie the gen into the main panel to feed all circuits, that's a nice gen, I have one at home tied into my main panel for emergency use. If I boondocked very much, I would consider it, although I would want a Propane powered gen to run off my on board Propane, gas adds some complication. You may get a conversion kit from gas to Propane, I haven't looked into that. Look into the weight added to your pin, and total RV weight as well.
Properly done, you would be fine.

That's hard to believe because around here they didn't even bat an eye. My dealer put ours in. Honda 5500 lp. The dealer asked which I preferred gas, diesel or LP. LP please! He said his only concern would be the mounting of the "gas" tank. He said he could mount it behind the front jack and the put a protection plate over it. The same if I wanted diesel. I could see where filling the gas tank on the gen could be a pain. I would try it first since you have it. If it is a pain just change to LP or a small external tank.
