You are going to get a lot of different answers. I use a Windows 8.1 tablet with Delorme street atlas and Topo on it. I like it because it has much more information displayed than the normal GPS. The Topo displays all government lands, national forest, BLM national parks and so on Certainly more than our standard Ford GPS. This may not be your best choice. I made a custom bracket to hold it that you may not be able to make.

I think you will find that most people think whatever they use is best. Search the reviews

After using a few different types ( including paper maps) the Rand McNally (Good Sam) RVGPS has my vote. No fuss no worry plug in your vehicle weight 5vr length and height and choose your destination.

Automatically avoids weight restrictions, height restrictions, roads that where you can't fit, or are not allowed on. Plug in waypoints, track fuel economy, select rest stops, campgrounds, attractions, what ever you like.

Also, for about $20 a year traffic is added. Route around traffic or construction. Up to the minutes traffic updates and weather too.

Updates via the internet or WiFi are free. We like it a lot.

I have used Microsoft Streets and Trips on a lap top (took me down a dead end street one time), Garmin 350 (tried to get me to take me on a 4x4 road the back way into Great Sand Dunes NP, I didn't), Garmin 765 (works pretty well except it tries to take me to a destination via routes I already know are not the fastest even though that is what it is set for).

I have learned to use google maps before ever leaving into unknown destinations, studying the highways, picking what I want, and then use the built in GPS in the truck or SUV mostly for the "miles to next turn", "miles to destination", and "estimated time of arrival" functions. Also helpful as I near the final destination and am not sure of the last few twist and turns. Proper lane to be in on multiple lane highways is also useful.

We've used a Rand McNally for the last few years and like it a lot. Garmin also makes an RV version now that is popular.

We have the Garmin RV 760LMT and love it. Comes with campgrounds loaded, free lifetime updates and free traffic alerts. Can also add weather info and warnings. Very RV friendly and easy to use. We also love the 7 inch screen which is so easy to see & read while driving as our old eyes need all the help they can get.

We have used the Rand McNally gps. Downloaded many Points of Interest and subscribed to LowClearance.com for height restriction info...then loaded to gps.

Rand McNally for use as well. Good Sams 7" version. Love the RV specific features like Campgrounds, Service centers and Pilot/Flying J finders.

Another vote for Rand McNally, I am really impressed with the info it supplies.
