Watkins Glen NY

We just returned from the Watkins Glen KOA, Watkins Glen, New York. What a beautiful Columbus Day weekend. It was only our 4th time out with the Monty this year but it was by far the GREATEST. Running the air conditioner on Friday, October 5th and sitting around the campfire on Saturday, October 6th in shorts and tee shirts in New York was something out of the ordinary.

We did the Seneca Lake boat ride, walked the glen and the streets of Watkins Glen, visited a winery, and visited the Windmill Craft and Flea Market. But the greatest thrill was to drive the Chevy Duramax around the Watkins Glen International Road Course. For $25, you can drive the course for 3 laps (55 mph limit with the pace car leading ). COOL. There were 50 Volkswagen campers/vans on the course ahead of us. Now that was a sight!!

The KOA is a great campground. It has an indoor heated pool and hot tub. Great place to relax. The only downside to the weekend was the fact that I had to repair the steps on the 2955RL as I dragged them entering the campground and bent them again. This was the second time in four outings that this has happened. Fortunately it was an easy fix. Don't know what I'm going to do about them.

Hope to meet some of you at the NE Spring Ralley in Gettysburg in June.

Argh! We were just up there too prior to your going we spent a week 9/16 -> and were in the sites just to left of entrance with the concrete slab and one plastic chair (whats that all about?).
Did the Glen, Seneca boat ride, 4 wineries, Hammonsport, and Camping World in Bath.
Did notice alot of rigs had dragged on entering that campground but didn't seem to be that radical of an entrance...mine was no problem going in or out.

Wow, great pictures! That's another area on my list of places I want to visit. My folks honeymooned in Watkins Glen. My paternal grandfather is buried in a cemetery now on a restricted Army base. I think it's near Romulus. We'll get there one of these days.
