Autoformer

Would 470.00 shipping included for a 50 amp Hughes Autoformer be a good deal..

Put it this way, I paid 400 for my 30 AMP and that was at a dealer in PA last year. I picked it up so there was no shipping.
PPL usually has a good internet price and they are 469 plus shipping.

No you do not need the installation kit.
However I would suggest getting the Voltage Meter and keep it plugged in. As we don't automatically hook up the Autoformer we always check the voltage meter at every campground. If it's reading in the red or even close the Autoformer gets put in line.
Also lock that puppy up, get yourself a good chain and padlock and use it faithfully. Even a coated bicycle cable with lock would work.

I got my Autoformer from this very company last fall. They are fast in delivery and as you've found, the price is right. It's easy to wire it in permanent with all the electrical components needed found at Lowe's, Home Depot, or your RV dealer. Just be sure to remove all power sources. Some other post have shown installation next to your fuse/converter box ... I installed mine in the forward storage compartment just on the other side of the wall from the fuse box. I figured it would get better ventilation there plus it takes up hardly any space. For no more than it takes to do this, I provides peace of mind as far as weather and theft. One crimp of the ole bolt cutter and ..... well you know! One last note ... some parks make you disconnect it if they see you using one ... with these park owners, there is some misunderstanding about their function that cannot be reasoned with.

Has anyone installed one of these in a 3400.The fuse box is in commode room so that won't work.We will definitely order one up...Some folks think that they take power from the park..nice trick???

Rich,
I would say that's not a bad price. I know there are exceptions where you might possibly get one for something less, but those are few and far between.

Rich: There is a RV Parts store, in the DonWes Flea Market in Texas, where I got my Hughes 30 amp for $299. The 50 amp. was $399. The name of the guy that owns the place is Dan Biller, MADE IN THE SHADE, RV Parts, Awnings, Sunscreens. W. Exp. 83, Laferia, Tx. 956-793-3452 or 797-4121. Might be worth a phone call. Keep us posted.
