Blue Ridge Parkway

Has anyone ever driving the entire Blue Ridge Parkway with the Monty in tow? Any difficulties with either the roads or finding camping spots along the way for a big rig? (We're 38')

Thanks!

YOU CANNOT PULL THE TRAILER for the full parkway.... there are campgrounds on part of the route.
and if there is fog on the parkway DONT drive it.

http://www.blueridgeparkway.org/v.php?pg=76 here are your answers.

you have to stop and visit little swisserland...go through the hotel lobby and look at the view...beautiful...have a drink outside and enjoy.

Send a message via MSN to jsmitfl
You'll have to watch for bridge over passes.

I live about 10 miles from the Parkway and are a frequent visitor, like about every 2 or 3 weeks. It is the prettiest road I have ever been on. It is winding and some places fairly steep but nothing that would cause a problem. I take my camper on the Parkway every year for friends to use to for a week to go to the Floyd Fest. Drive slow stop frequently at the overlooks and attractions and enjoy the ride. Due to budget cuts some picnic areas are closed this year. There are some of the over looks you can't get your camper turned around on so if you can't see both ends of the overlook don't go in without checking it out first. You can have fog on the parkway but it isn't often and will last for a few hours, it is no big deal.
If you go let me know and I will meet you about 10 miles south of Roanoke.

Brad and Suzanne,

Here is a previous thread referencing info on the Blue Ridge Pkwy and Skyline. It may help for planning:

Thanks. We decided to camp near the parkway and enjoy day drives/hikes. Just more enjoyable overall.
