Fresh Water Gauge

Doesn't show a level at any time, regardless of how much is in the tank. Shows empty all the time. Short in the wiring?

Clyde,

They are a bear to get to, but the wires may be loose on the studs outside of the tank, or they may have even fallen off. Rich found most of these were loose when he pulled down the belly.

Clyde n Deb,

I'll bet they either forgot to hook it up or as Brad indicated they've worked loose and fallen off. It's a bit of a job but drop the belly cover and have a look.

Good luck.

Right on folks...there is a resistor network at each tank. They feed back on a wire per tank to the display unit. The monitor uses op amp IC to activate the LED array based on the tank button you push.
Does sound like tank thing...and likely the bottom connection is missing or so loose it does not provide reference voltage. As others indicate loosen belly pan and check the lowest connector.

Thought I'd check.............it worked in the usual "sort of SWAG" mode for 3 years, and then this year no cigar out of storage.

Just forgot to ask before. Certainly doesn't stop me from going though! Out of here tomorrow! Thanks.

I disagree, we've owned 3 rigs and all 3 had wonderfully working fresh and grey water indicators, and to my surprise they've been more accurate than Id expect. I'd agree wholeheartedely if we were talking black water tanks.

Our "indicators" work fine. If no fresh water comes out then we are out of water. If the water backs up in the shower drain then the gray tanks are full. If I flush the toilet and I have to beat things down with a stick then the Black tank is full.

I found a new indicator for the black tank last time I was out.

When flushing the john, I noticed it "belched" a little, or in other words, air had to come up through the water before the water could go down. I thought for a while, checked the gauge, and yep, it was full. So full in fact, that the vent tube was probably blocked by water so before anything could go down, air had to come up somewhere.

My guages work and I neglect to even look at them. Shame on me.

What gauges???? Are you referring to the little stairway night-lights next to the water pump and gas hot water switches??

As you can tell, I don't use them either. Actually the only use that I know they have is when DW tells me, "there is no way that tank can be full again!!" I keep telling her not to even look at the indicators, but like most marriages, Momma knows best and Dad knows there is no use pressing the issue!! Ha Ha!! I do have faith in the fresh water indicator but since we are always on CG water, I have only had one opportunity to use it in years. Black says full all the time, and grey only goes between 1/3-2/3 when empty. Oh well!!

I can't remember the last time I even pressed one of those buttons. It did take me a long time to convince DW that they were bogus. When toilet burps, I empty, when shower retains water, I empty, when fresh water runs out (when I use it) I put more in.

PERIOD, end of story.
