San Diego area Rv parks

We are planning a trip to San Diego and also Napa Valley. Looking for nice rv parks. We like spacious parks with full amenities. We enjoy some days just relaxing at the park so they need to have good aesthetics. Appreciate any help anyone can give.

David & Audra,

We have stayed in San Diego often.

http://www.sdrvresort.com is nice, but tight and there is a light rail behind the park. Not so noisy, but you do hear it. Nice sites with colorful foliage. This park has a pool.

http://www.missionbayrvresort.com is owned by the City of San Diego and they do have restrictions on your 5er and TV - 10 years, if I remember on the 5er and no visible damage on either. No pool, but gated and security. Located between two mobile home parks that are also owned by the City and which is trying to remove them. We actually prefer this one as it is centrally located to what we desire: our kids and grandkids and the beaches. Nice, long sidewalks to walk or ride your bike.

http://www.santafepark.com is tight and only 30 amps. It also backs up to the railroad and is quite noisy.

http://www.chulavistarv.com is nice - we haven't stayed here, but have driven through. We chose not to stay here because it is so far from San Diego, in time more than miles.

We stayed at Chula Vista - quite enjoyed it. Very nice park and you can stroll by the Ocean and also walk the Marina Area - mice restaurant there. Also you can drive to Coronodo Island. Took Trolley whioh stops just outside the Park -- it takes you right to Old Towne. We enjoyed the park and would return.

David and Audra,

We live in North San Diego County and there are a couple of RV parks near us that seem nice, although we have never stayed there. We are inland about 30 miles from the coast, so if you want to stay close to the beach they won't work. All Seasons RV Park and Champagne Lakes RV Resort are the names that are close to us and fairly close to the Wild Animal Park. If you want to stay close to the beach that is diffcult to find a spacious park(land is too expensive). The posts above have a couple of suggestions, Chula vista is the other end of the county from us. There are a couple of State Beach campgrounds, but they are extremely difficult to get into and I'm not sure about the length limit. In Napa Valley we would highly recommend the Napa County fairgrounds RV Park in Calistoga, which is the North end of the Napa Valley. Calistoga is smaller than the city of Napa, the campground has large sites with full hookups and towering Sycamore trees throughout the campground. There are no other amenities at the campground such as pool/ spa etc., however there is a golf course adjacent to the RV Park( some campsites backup to the golf course). Anyway, check it out at www.napacountyfairgrounds.com and click on RV Park. There are almost no RV parks in the Napa Valley(same problem with the price of land), there is one at the fairgrounds in the city of Napa but it is much more cramped and they do not make reservations just first come first served. Lets us know when you will be in San Diego.

In Napa we stayed at the Napa Expo - clean, good hookups, spacious pull throughs!
