Lippert pump

On our hydraulics for the slides it uses a Lippert pump and has a tank for the hydraulic oil. What is the correct oil to use in the hydraulic system? Regular hydraulic oil? Something special? I want to purchase some to carry as a "spare".

Some use ATF fluid and some.. like mine use AW32 hydraulic oil

Link to Lippert fluid recommendations

Also if yo7 experience popping sounds with the hydrauilc level up yo7 can substitute 1 qt of fluid for one of the several stiction fluid choices

If your fluid is red it is Automatic transmission fluid.
If it is yellow it is AW32W hydraulic fluid.
Either way you can add a quart of anti sticktion fluid per LCI (helps take creaking/popping out of jacks)
The LCI tech bulletin regarding this is in the Lippert NOW app.
The app has manuals and troubleshooting for all your Lippert equipment.
The App also has the specs for what type of ATF you need IF they filled your reservoir with ATF.
It seems like newer models all have hydraulic fluid.

It looks a little dark color and certainly not yellowish looking. Appreciate the quick responses too. I'll pick up a couple qts. of spare fluid, probably Dexron III.

This is the link to what Lippert recommends to use in the hydraulic system.

I'm certainly no hydraulic expert, but I've been told not to mix hydraulic oil and ATF. Make sure if you just add that you put back what's in there or replace all the fluid if you want to change.

Given the age of your unit when was the last time the fluid in the reservoir was changed out?

This is something I do every 3 years.. the fluid will discolor over time and AW32 hydrauilc fluid will turn very dark in color…

ATF fluid would also turn dark in color.

Something for you to consider if you are original or newer and have never siphoned the fluid out and replaced.. you can’t get all of it because its in the lines, manifolds and cylinders

I doubt if the previous owner ever changed the fluid and you make some good points for changing out the present fluid. Thank you for that pointer, I hadn't thought about it. We bought the unit primarily because it had been used very little and stored in heated indoor storage it's entire life.
