Ceiling Fan Switch on a 3160RL?

We have a new Montana 2016 1/2 3160RL. We took it out for the first time to check things out to see if we had any issues prior to our trip to the UP. We found a few minor things that we'll get fixed when we get back, but one item that I would like to get working is the ceiling fan.
We pulled the chains, no light, no fan. Called the dealers service department and they told me that it had its own power switch. I have tried all the power switches on the walls and in the control panel, no power to the fan. Anyone that has a 3160, could they please tell me where to look for the fan power switch.

Ours is near our other switches which is inconvienent and we complained to Montana management. They may have listened, they often do. Look for something like this on a livingroom wall, possibly around a corner in a slide. https://www.amazon.com/Lutron-DVWFSQ...rds=fan+switch

Thank you for the quick response. Found it in the main control panel, similar to the switch you posted. Would be nice if they marked it. I thought that switch was a main power switch.

Gotta love that DQDick guy, he knows more about the Montana's than the people that build them.

Glad it was simple. We have the 3160 and love it. Ours is a 2015. If you have any questions specific to the 3160, feel free to send me a message.

Actually, everything I've learned I either learned from other members here or at the National Rallies. Once someone else helps you, you should be willing to help the next guy. That's what the forum is all about.

A couple items to check on the ceiling fan. If it is similar to ours, you can reverse the direction like home fan to either blow down (summer setting) or draw air up (winter setting) and ours can in the winter setting from the factory. Also check to make sure the screws that hold the blades are tight as mine loosened up and one fell out on a trip and boy was that interesting when I turned the fan on with one blade screw gone. Caught it quick without any damage.

Add me to the 3160RL fans and people to check with if you have any questions too.

Yeah, from the size of the rocker switch they use for the ceiling fan, if you didn't know better you'd swear it was a main breaker

And please add me to the fan club ! We just read a post about the size of the ceiling fan on/off switch, checked the main panel, and voila ! there it was.
To all of the contributors, thanks for keeping us informed !

If there is a large residential style decora type rocker switch on the panel with all you other switches for lights and things, that is probably your fan switch. Push it in at the top, and you should have power to the fan. If the fan or light on it does not work, then if there are pull chain type switches on the fan, they might be off and just start pulling them to turn fan or light on.

Here is a pic...but it is the very large rectangular switch (ignore the red arrow).
Also as stated you need to pull the chain on the fan.
Speaking of the fan chain - during travel my chains bounce and wrap around the blades or the light fixture. Is there a good way the keep that from happening?

The big rocker switch should be it. Mine was busted and had to change it out when I got the trailer. They used mobile home type switches which are quite flimsy.

We’ve got a 2020 3812 MS and ours is high in the switch cabinet on the right.

fan switch for 2016

The pic above is a screen shot from a sales video tour of a 2016 3160RL.
The fan switch is in the upper portion of your control panel in the hallway steps leading to the bedroom. I outlined the rocker switch. This switch controls power to the fan (motor and light bulb). If you turn this switch on and the fan does not move - then you need to click the pull chain on the ceiling fan. Also while you are at it - pull the light bulb chain and see if the fan light comes on. If the fan still does not come on but your light bulb does come on - then you know you have power to the fan. My bet is that the fan pull chain switch is faulty. I have replaced many of those switches on the ceiling fans in my S&B over the years. The spring parts inside don't last very long (on any fan switch - nothing to do with Keystone - they just break).

The second pic shows typical fan switches (for illustration only). I don't know what part number your switch is. You will need to take the fan apart and get the part number and go find it on amazon. There are 100's of different switch types. I think the one on our fans are 3 speed switches, which are more common...some are 3-wire, some are 4-wire, 5-wire switches etc. etc.

They are pretty easy to replace. Take the light globe off and there should be some screws to take off the bottom fan cover. The fan switch should be attached to the bottom cover.

old thread!

Hmmm...I just figured out that I answered a question from a very old thread concerning a 2016 3160RL....sorry about that!

The NEW question from (Saulsteam this morning - post #15 above) is concerning a 2019 3560RL. I could not find a good video tour of a 2019 - but the screen shot below is from a 2018 3560RL showing the location of the control panel and the fan switch. Maybe the 2019 control panel is located in the same place.
