New Tow Vehicle

Upgraded from a 2012 GMC Serra SLE 2500HD to a 2020 Serra SLT 3500HD with the new Allison 10 speed trans. It is a day and Night difference on how much better the ride is with the camper or with out the camper.

It drops 3.5 inches. I had air bags on my 2012 but my ride is so good on the new truck i don't want to put them on my new truck.

that sounds about right. The ride is like a Cadillac ! I can tell you the airbags will not effect ride quality. Even slightly nose high it was bugging me.

Congratulations on the new truck. I traded up to a 2020 GMC 3500 dually from a 2500 GMC and went out the first time over this weekend. What a difference. I have the air bags I took off the 2500 so will probably have them installed on the new truck.

Congrats on the new truck - it looks great! I really like the rear bed side step that comes on the 2020 models! Great idea...why did it take so long to come up with that one?

Vary nice. GM needs to put air bags on from the factory. Like my Ram 3500 no squat at all and adj them from inside.

Don't you love it. They are a towing beast. You will love the cameras for lane changes, and everything else. Congratulations, oh by the way I put airbags on mine. These trailers drop some serious weight over the axle.

Good looking truck and set up. Con grads. You are going to love that 10 speed. What until you check your fuel MPG. Will be you it goes up 3 to 4 MPG from your other truck. That's if you drive 65 to 70 mph

Congrats on the new truck. I just got the Denali HD this month too. Love the camera system. Getting ready to try to connect the GM rear camera system. I had Timbrens on my 2015, but this 2020 has about 3700 pounds of cargo capacity and my 3820 FK pin weight is 2800 pounds so not adding air bags or overloads. The ride is awesome. We just pulled up Donner pass last weekend and the truck was a beast. Did you notice that the engine runs cooler on these new Duramax's? Normal operating temp on my 2015 was around 200. This one is about 175-180.

Gm's dually's don't need air bags because they're built with the rear slightly higher so when loaded they sit level. I have a 2019 Chevy LTZ dually and it has LOTS of pin weight, but rides & handles great. No need for air bags whatsoever
Congrats on the new truck!

The same is true on the both the 2500 and 3500 SRW's. They sit a little bit higher in the back than the front unloaded.

However, it doesn't seem like it, because it feels like almost everyone cranks up the front torsion bars to get them level, so they look like they are not higher in the back...

Charlie
I can only say that was not my experience. We went from a 2002 2500 D/A, and got about 8.5ish pulling 70MPH.

With our 2020 3500 D/A we are getting about 9-9.5ish pulling 70MPH. Not a huge gain for us. BUT, you know what, I don't care. The smile that I get when I hit the go pedal makes up for any fuel economies that I might or might not get.

The 10 speed is absolutely awesome in all regards, pulling or not...

That's exactly what my truck drops with our 3741FK hooked up.

I went to the scales, and loaded vs. unloaded on the front axle are 4800 and 5060 respectively, so a drop of 260 lbs on the front axle, or a difference of 5% from the original 5060.

With only loosing 260 lbs on the front (and still having 4800 lbs on the ground), I have never felt like the front end is light at all.

Enjoy that beast!!!

Congrats on the new truck!

All trucks set higher in the back for this reason.

Congrads on the new Truck. BTW I really like the looks of the rear cap on your camper. It looks clean and modern especially with the small round led clearance lights at the top.You hardly notice that they are there. I don't like the flat rear caps with the bumpers..
