Here's another - Penguin Baseball

I only played this a short time and socked that penguin 308 feet or yards or whatever the measure is. Vicki just now hit 321.1. One of our sons hit 323. Guess I need to go try it again.

Click the Yeti at the bottom to start the penguin, then click him again to swing the bat... Click OK to start over.

Enjoy!

Very clever - if the angle is not right and the penguin ends up head first in the ice.

You must have practiced at baseball Steve and have an unfair advantage over us Cricket playing Brits!

I got to 315 and can't seem to beat it. It is saved and I'll try again soon. This is easier than the last one.

Yep, couldn't keep him up no matter what. I'll eventually get Ed on these. He was a Pac Man hero.

Okay I got to 320. You can click on the rock also and then your cursor is not in the way. The helicopter is not for me - can't get over 100.

Talk about precise angle! Made it up to 320.8, but don’t know how Vicki got it past that!

Update here:

After playing for some time today, I managed to hit a penguin 323.5 just after Marsha and John got home. John saw my high score on the screen and started playing while I was eating supper. He came in about 5 minutes later and asked my high score, and I told him. He was disappointed as he had just hit one 321.1. He promptly turned around and went back to it, only to return about 5 minutes later to say we were tied. I said no way, but followed him back to the computer. Sure enough, there it was on the screen—323.5. He had done in about 10 minutes what it had taken me well over an hour to do.

These kids… (J. D. shaking his head in wonder)!

Well, you're still better than me at that. You and John both! I'm still stuck on 321.1. Haven't had a chance to try it since last night. I've tried putting the cursor at the point on the rock where I will swing the bat when the penguin reaches that point. Didn't help. I also discovered if you click so the penguin starts his fall, then click but hold the mouse button down it will then swing the bat when you release the mouse button. A bit more precise control that way. Still didn't help. Arrrgh.

It is driving Steve NUTS that I have a better score on this game!

Sue ... we both use a track-ball instead of a mouse.

I'm now at 323.4. Vicki tells me her actual high is 323.5.

As Vicki said, we each use a trackball. I made the switch several years ago and wouldn't go back. I like using my thumb to move the ball and being able to have it just sit on the arm of this lazyboy. I like the Logitech Trackman Marble Wheel. It's ball is read optically and I only have to clean it maybe twice per year. I have a very oily skin so more ordinary trackballs would get "dirty" and have to be cleaned twice per week. This is just my personal preference. I like the way it fits my hand, also. That's probably a lot of the reason I like it.

Your trackball is different than the ones I have used which I didn't like. I had to have surgery on my hand about 14 years ago because of "overuse of mouse". The scroll part of my mouse now helps a lot. I also like the touch pads but they are not fast. I'm thinking the type of "mouse" you are using makes a difference in these games.

I also found, at least with this penguin, if I start the penguin falling, then while he's falling I press and hold the mouse button until ready to swing, then release the button and the yeti swings. That seems to be more precise than pressing the button when ready to swing, at least for me. I'm still pretty inconsistent, though. I stick him in the ground a lot, around 200. Still stuck on 323.4 for my best.

Steve, you are about to pass us. That will probably get John playing again when I tell him, and he will most likely put us all to shame. Quite honestly, I am VERY erratic on this game. Most of my penguins plow in head first at 200 or slide in around 270. There is just such a minute window in which you can pull a good distance. I am much more consistent on the helicopter game.

Well the best I can get is 310.5. I don't know how you all got such high scores. Most of mine are a miss. LOL

Steve, I showed Sabrina this game and she loves it. She has a thing for Penguins and said to tell you "Thank You!"

Now I have to walk away from the computer. I use a wireless mouse and now have a sore shoulder. {]

Sue, this trackball also has a scroll wheel. I use that frequently.

J.D., I don't think John's in any danger of my catching him unless I just get lucky. It's been a couple of days since I've been able to even think about batting the penguin. My experience is about like yours. Very erratic. I've tried focusing on one spot and releasing the bat when the penguin hits that spot. I've tried putting the cursor on a spot and releasing when the penguin hits that spot. Now I'm back to following the penguin with my eyes, just like playing baseball. A slower computer might make the penguin move more slowly and enhance my odds, unless the programmer is using timing loops.

Patty, that url was sent to me by a friend. Just what kind of "think" does Sabrina have for penguins that she likes beating on them with a baseball bat??? I thought you were going to mention "cruelty to penguins!"

By the way, I found out that yellow box with "OK" always is in the same place on the screen (except when you miss with the bat). So I put the cursor on that spot and do my clicking of the mouse buttons from there. Saves a lot of wear and tear on my thumb.
