panels came off
I have a 2005 Big Sky Montana and have encountered yet another problem! While traveling from Texas to my home base in Il, the underbelly panels ripped loose. This happened on the interstate and I have to re-screw the panels so that I could limp home. They were secured with only a few screws which had very small heads. This on top of the frame holding the pin box broke in half. (The metal used was undersized) I'm wondering how many corners were cut in the manufacture of this unit? http://montanaadministrator.forumco..../icon_mi_3.gif

A few people have reported removing the screws and putting fender washers on them. For the uninitiated, fender washers are large disk washers with small holes in them, much more surface area than regular washers. You can find them at most hardware / home improvement stores, or order them from Grangers:

As Tom S. stated, if you have to drop the underbelly one time, take the time and use the fender washers when you put it back. I would recommend using stainless steel washers, since that area is subjected to the elements when towing.

On my 2007 they were large self tapper with good sized heads, 3/8 if I remember, good enough to hold it securely. Maybe the bean counters went cheap..

Yeah, they had to cut back because of all those lost screws we found in the parking lot during our plant tour last year. They were everywhere!
