Toilet seal replacement

Has anyone replaced the toilet seal or ball.Mine is not holding water after 6 years of good service,I've done all of the procedures to stop it from draining to no avail so I'm just going to replace the seal and maybe the spring cartridge and was wondering how much of a job this is and any advise would be appreciated.

gary it is a simple job. I am about to change mine for the second time. just cut off the water pull the lower cover on the front it is held on with a pc of velcro then remove the steel clamp that holds the top to the bottom and the two pcs of plastic under the clamp set the bowl off and there is the seal. its easyer to unscrew the water supply and the foot pedal assy before you set off the bowl there is two screws behind the round cover over the foot pedal assy no problem.

Bobby has it exactly right. Wayne replaced our seal two weeks ago. It took less than 20 minutes. The old seal looked like a piece of bacon, all rippled and wrinkly.

Good luck--it's an easy fix.

My seal which meets the ball is no longer "sealing". What's the procedure for replacing this part?

Mine started leaking after about two years. I called Sealand and lady gave me instructions just as Bobby noted. Told me to clean the seal well and lube it with a food grade oil such as Pam. And if that did not fix it she would send me a new seal.
That was 4 yrs ago, no new seal, and still working fine.
I did notice the seal was slightly off center when I took it apart. I was very careful to make sure it was centered when I put it back together.
