Site to order a surge protector

I have a site to get your surge protector if you so desire, as cheap as I have found.
I have this on my home panel, and will have on the Monte soon.
Simple hook up, small.
It will shunt the spike to ground when it occurs.
Ozz

Also, I have a picture of mine installed;

Hi Orv,
Don't quote me on this, my paperwork is buried in one of Three packed file drawers, but I think it was 60,000 Amps, and 2,700 joules. They have a $10,000 cap on claims for failure of the unit.
1 Watt=one Joules of energy per second. The amount of energy consumed is measured in Joules.
One of those things you can't see laying on the Coffee table, so you just have to hope they know what they are doing.
I think they do.
Take care, Ozz

This sounds like a great way to go for me...then I can keep my protection inside where I don't have to worry about it.
If I get one, I may have to ask how to hook it up...

Thanks for that link Ozz...

Ozz - Do you know if it takes a hit will it keep on ticking or must it be replaced?? If it takes a spike how do you know?? Did it come with directions for install or do we need to bother you for install directions? Thanks Ron

Ozz,

I love the way you say "simple hook up". My expertise with electricity is replacing a light bulb. :-)

Is it REALLY simple?

Peace!

Hi Ron, I just bought my new one for the Monte, the new ones have a Red indicator light to tell you to replace it, if it's bad. As I understand it, you do not have to replace it, if it 'takes a hit'.
I think that is because it just shunts the spike to ground.
I've had one on my home for 5 or 6 years now, and the Two Green lights are still shining. I don't think it indicates a protection mode.

Robbie,
The wires are color coded, Green to Ground, White to the White wires, (Neutral) and each of the Two Black, or Black and Red under any Two pole breaker. (In your Monte, or any 50 Amp. service RV, without an additional 50 Amp. breaker, it would go with the Two incoming Black and Red wires' wire screws on the main breaker.)
OR, you could get an Electrician to do it. I always advise people not to get their Pinkies in there, if they don't know what's up electrically.
Safety First.
Take care, Ozz
