Gap between slide & door for rain

Does anyone have a soluation to help with the space between the slide and door for rain? My wife Bernice, was asking the question. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Ken,

What year and Montana model do you have? A space by the slide that allows rain to get in does not seem normal. How big is the space? Do you have rubber flaps/seals on the sides of the slides?

We need the info requested above plus is the gap all the way from top to bottom, or just on the bottom. You could have something caught under your slide not allowing it to go out all the way or you could have an alignment problem, or something else.

I'm guessing he means the physical space between the entry door and a slide itself. Maybe the awning just doesn't extend far enough past the door to deal with rain coming slightly sideways.

Yes that is what it is. I have the same problem. so when I made my own slide toppers I extended the topper over the side of the awning to stop the rain from coming in between the gap because the awning doesn't cover far enough.

I remember someone on the forum a while back made a frame of pvc with a cover that was placed atop the slide itself to shield the area. I remember our 3400 had this unwanted feature since the awning did not extend over the slide out that contained the dining room.

Yes I will e-mail you send me a PM. it will take a week or so I am in transit between my regular site and my temporary site and I do not have them up right now. but I can put them up in about an hour. I used corrugated plastic roof panels and attached them to 1x4 wood and held them down with rope through the panel then under the slide and then back up to the other side. when I take them down I roll up the panels and place it all in the basement with the boards it cost me around 150 dollars to make them for 3 slides. this is of course not the way you would want to do it if you moved all the time but it works great and it looks surprisingly good.

Sorry about that, the Mod. is a 2014 3725RL, and yes the space is between the door and the side of the slide.

Yes, whenever it rains, the entry steps are half wet as is anyone that goes in or out. "Layout of unit trumps practicality for door placement and awning coverage" is my take on this situation. It would take replacing dometic 9100 electric awning on my 3800re with a "carport" awning used on motorhomes to solve it. So, in reality, for me it will be continue to live with it or do the gap filler something or other. John

While we were in Quartzsite this past January our neighbors next door in the circle changed out there existing aluminum tube and fabric to take care of this problem. They had a Big Sky with electric awning which happened to have the power fed from the front leg. This allowed them to move the back arm toward the rear.. I think it ended up being a little over 18' so they also had to mount a carrier bracket in the middle to help if it started to sag when in the stored position. Hopefully Bob38 will chime in to give a little updated info.
