Well, the DH did it. Pulled the roof edge back and replaced staples with stainless steel screws. As usual he did a super job and it is done to his satisfaction and much better than it came from the factory. He never ceases to amaze me at all the things he can do. I never need a repairman at our house. We are getting older and climbing up and down on ladders is not my idea of something fun to do and not something you expect to do on a brand new camper. The DH saved us a 250 mile trip and the likelyhood of the dealer not repairing it to our satisfaction, but think this staple problem could be solved with more pride in workmanship, spending a little more time and using SS screws, and some quality control.

Kudo's to you for having the ability and resolve to repair it yourself. If you want to be assured it's done right, do it yourself. Hopefully, you took pictures. Contact Keystone. Maybe, just maybe they may do something for you.

interesting that this came up. I just looked at my new 4 month old 3402 and it has staples coming up too. Just another problem with the darn trailer.

I hate the auto spell on these things. I meant to say I'm sure my DH will fix the other side when it needs it. Maybe we will be lucky and no more staples will come out. Haha.

after reading this I went up on top of my new 2013 and found that there are about 20 staples trying to punch through my roof membrane. Oh well, just another issue for keystone to deal with.

Bethand Kevin how long did the repair take when you brought it in and how long was the piece of roof they had to lift. I have the same problem but don't want to leave the trailer. It is a 2hour drive to the dealer.

I will tell you I fixed mine myself. The gutter on the side is in three pieces. I removed the rear two sections and about 6 screws from the front section. With a cordless drill about a 15 minute job. As it turns out Keystone used no butyl tape under the gutter at all. Shame on you Keystone but it made not having to clean it off a lot faster.
Fold the EPDM back toward the center, remove staples and then install 1/2" stainless screws. I also put reinforced duck tape over screws. Put the gutter back on but I used butyl tape under gutter. Used EPDM rated caulk down length of gutter. I'm sure the other side will have to be done in future. Job was not too difficult and if I had a long walk board it would be even easier.
