Lippert oil tank level

I have a Big Sky 3580RL 2011. Yesterday was doing a check on the RV equipment. I have 3 slide outs and the Lippert 6 Point Leveling System. When checking the Lippert oil tank the oil is about 3 inches down. I have no oil leaks and everything works fine, slides and jacks. I read on the Forum where they say to fill the tank within 1/2 inch of the fill cap. My oil tank looks like it will hold around 2 gal of oil when full. I went to the Lippert web site and all the pictures show a smaller flat tank and no pictures of my tank. By the way all slides are in and all the jacks are retracted. I called Keystone Customer Service and after they finaly found my trailer file they said the tank has a rim below the fill spout and to keep the level between the rim and the fill spout. This afternoon I will look to find the rim line and see how much oil I need. The tank now looks to be about 2/3 full, Hard to understand how the system works just fine now. It works fine the way it is, I hope if i fill it up it will not run over or hurt the tank. Am I right in thinking with the slide in and the jacks up and adding more oil to the tank it will not run over when I use the slides and jacks then retract them the next time?

You check the oil in the tank when all the items are retracted. When they are out oil is pushed into the system. Mine is full when it's 2/3 full as per the mechanic who installed my Level-up at Lippert. Your's may be different since your's was factory.

As long as the oil level keeps the pump inlet submerged in oil, all will work fine. The oil inlet is within an inch or two from the bottom of the reservoir, so that should tell you how low you could get before you'll start sucking air. Like mentioned ... pull the slides in and retract the levelers first, then adjust your oil level if needed.

Maybe next week at Jackson you can show me this magical "rim line". I just added a quart to mine (previous leak caused).
