As some of you may have read in an earlier post of mine, we have 15,509 miles on our 5th wheel. While checking air pressure in the tires I found a crack in one of our wheels on Sunday 14 November.
I fired off an e-mail to Tredit, the manufacturer and warranter of the wheel, that day and had a reply waiting for me Monday morning when I awoke. Unfortunately it was not the response I was hoping for. I was informed that the particular wheels we have, the TR6, was manufactured specifically for Keystone and the wheel was no longer being manufactured, the mold had been destroyed and the wheel was no longer available.
After talking with the Warranty Manager of Tredit on the phone, she said they would replace our one cracked wheel under warranty, but the replacement would not match the other 3. She further suggested that I could look on e-bay to try and find a wheel to match what we currently have or buy 3 additional new style wheels from them at a discounted price of $67.00 each to match the replacement. I know she really was trying to be helpful and responsive to our situation, but after thinking about those options for about 5 seconds or so, I told her I would contact Keystone and see what they would do for us.
We knew the style of wheel we have on our rig was no longer available from other posts here on this forum, but in the past Tredit had taken care of the issue to the owner’s satisfaction. My next call was to Keystone Customer Service. I spoke with a very nice lady there named Cherie and explained the situation and Tredit’s response. I further explained that I didn’t feel that we should have to come out of pocket for 3 wheels just because the ones we have are no longer available. She e-mailed me a picture to verify the style of wheel we currently have to see if by chance they had one there at the factory they could send us. After she found they did not, she requested that the company replace all 4 of our wheels with new ones.
I received the good news today in an e-mail from Cherie. The replacements have been authorized and 4 new wheels are being shipped to us from the Oregon warehouse.
Thank you Keystone for coming through and turning what was a bad situation into a positive outcome!!!
Jack
