Fort Worth

Does anyone know of a good safe campground near Fort Worth, Texas? I am thinking about relocating to this area and would be a full timer. I don't mind a little drive but would like to me more west or northwest of Fort Worth.
Thanks
Phil

We stayed in Eagle Resortswhen we visited our kids in Fort Worth. Don't let the "Resort" fool you. It was OK, just not what I would call a resort. Lot's of fulltimers in it.

There is one over on 199 up towards Azle. It is Shady Hill,10700 Highway 199, Fort Worth, TX 76135. Not sure they have a web site. Both of these are plain Jane parks. Eagle Resorts did have wifi for a monthly fee.

Not in the direction you are talking about, but there are several in Arlington. One (was or is??? a KOA), had a number of full timers.

OKKK, just looked, it seems to be called Dallas Metro KOA.

There is another one there, Treetops, it is a beautiful park, it is closer to the I 20 by about a mile or so, but, we cannot recommend it, as we had "dog" issues with the owner, who, in the long run did not care if we ever came back, and said so. He must have a really full park to have that kind of attitude. If you have no dogs, it really is a beautiful park.

Ditto to Carol's post. We stayed at Treetops last Christmas. We had no dog at the time so that was no issue, but they were so full that when we tried to extend by one day they could not accommodate us. We moved on to the KOA which Carol mentioned. It, too, is a nice park. As Carol said, Treetops is closer (but not too close) to I-20 and near a good Cracker Barrel restaurant. Treetops would be my first choice, but I'd have no trouble going back to the KOA just up the road (North).

I Was looking for parks a while back an found the Shady Hill park, It had one review.

The roads & driveways were narrow and in very poor condition, and the entry is narrow and difficult to find, there was no-one available to register with, the owner and manager were not there when we arrived and the phone number listed gets you an answering machine and they do not return calls
The sites were not paved or level, There are no restrooms, showers, washers or dryers, the only trash dumpster is hidden, The price ($20.00/night) is much too high for what you get. The water/sewer connections are misplaced,in poor condition and stink! The best I can say about the place was that the grass was mowed and there were no stickers or thorns.
If we could have found any other place to stay nearby, I certainly would have NOT HAVE stayed at the Shady Hill RV Park...!

Needless to say with what this person had to say we stayed away from this one.

Phil-
Check this link.

http://www.rv-ranch.com/

It is called RV Ranch and is at Exit 32 on I-35W north bound side in Burleson, just south of Ft. Worth. Just a heads up, there is considerable oil drilling activity in the Ft. Worth area. Campsites are at a premium and availability is short.

That Burleson campground is very nice, and seemed there were a lot of permanents in there as well. Bout 14 miles south of Fort Worth, RIGHT on I 35, an easy drive.

Cowtown RV Park is just west of FT Worth and just west of the I20 I30 split in Aledo, TX. Rates were $27.50 (GS rate) and our only negative comment was that it was quite noisy.
