I've got the same pump - love it. Did not want one that plugged into the service outlet - too low amps on most of them.

While traveling on some back roads in Death Valley, I had a large rock stuck between my dually tires. I was able to let the air out and remove the rock. The Viair allowed me to reinflate in short order. I've also use it to top off my 110lb pressure tires when on the road and away from my larger compressor. Just hook it up to your vehicle battery with the engine running and you're good to go. It has worked very well for me.

I've used a 12 VDC Harbor Freight hi volume compressor for several years. It looks similar in design to a Viair and cost around $50. All I've ever had to do to it was tighten the head cap screws once. It has pumped up a 16" truck tire in very little time. No doubt Viair's are nice, but I don't need that quality and price stowed in my fiver just to use once or twice a year.

Checking and adding air to my inner dually tires was always a hassle until I had long, rigid, metal valve stems installed which makes access to the inners as easy as the outers. These stems are one piece as opposed to an extender attached to the inner tire valve stem.

My 2018 Ram dually came with long rigid metal inner valve stems like joegpetro is talking about and the viair has a long metal chuck, works great. With almost $150K in combined truck and 5th wheel, can't imagine why $293(cost now Walmart online) is such a problem to keep all my tires inflated properly, even took me all day to put 80psi in truck tires before viair

Sort of along the same line of conversation. How do you deal with Tire pressure when you go from warm weather tires set at 110. go someplace cold and now the pressure is under 100 the next morning do to the cold and tire monitor going crazy with all tires below the low pressure thresh hold. If I put them to 110 psi and go back to Phoenix they will be way over pressure. My solution was to not plug the monitor in until I'd been on the road a while and the tires warm up. Whats the usual solution people use.

Great question Rod. I haven't run into that yet but probably will next month. Going from Florida to WV for hunting season. Big temp change.

I had a similar issue going for CO to TX last May. I ran them up to 110 before we left and adjusted them be for pulling out of Amarillo the next morning.
They did not need much.

I'm guessing there is a chart that will tell you how/what to adjust to based on ambient temperature.
+/- 10% is good enough for me.

I believe the pressure is 110 lb at 70 degrees.
That being said, I like to keep my tires above 100 lb. 
Also I like to turn on my TPMS before I leave.
That way it has time to initialize current pressure, giving me time to adjust before I hit the road. 
This has saved me at least once, when I had one very low tire...

My tpms doesn't activate until the wheel moves a bit. How do you check before leaving - move the trailer a foot or 2???
