Blank tank dump valve pull
Hi,
I tried searching for this but was not able to find anything.
I have a 2019 Keystone Montana 3731FL. I went to empty the black tank and as I pulled the handle, the whole thing gave way and it pulled out almost the whole way. Is there a way to repair this or do I have to replace the whole valve system?

If it's just the cable that pulled out of the sheath, you should be able to push it back in and reattach it to the clamp at the valve. If the valve is that stuck, you may need to replace it, But I've found that using Theford drain valve lubricant can really loosen up a valve. I use 4 to 8 oz of the lube in my grey tank and find the valve much easier to operate. I put the lube down a drain after draining the tank and follow it with a bit of water so it gets to the valve. The next time I drain the tank, the valve opens and closes much easier, and this will work on any of the valves. I've also used liquid Calgon in the tanks and this seems to also help.

Thank you for your reply. I tried to push the cable back into the sheath but it wouldn't budge. I ended up purchasing this:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lasalle-B...b-c1d3b3dbcec2
I purchased this because it looked closest to what we have. My husband plans to remove the cable from the new one and attaching it to the clamp at the valve.
I will look into the valve lubricant.
Thank you!!

Before we even took delivery of our unit we had them put Valterra valves on our black and gray tanks (not needed on our galley). The standard valves are braided cable, whereas the Valterra valves are a solid wire. Just in case you have to replace your valves.

Take the Bristol valve back and buy the Valterra equivalent, you won’t be sorry!

Pritulan, it is pretty straight forward, but not a pretty job. There are two ways, but both start by dropping the plastic bottom under the tanks. The plastic is called coroplast. Hopefully you have drained your tank already. There are four screws that attach the valve. I like the idea of cutting the plastic pipe and using a rubber sleeve to reconnect it later. I did it the hard way. Using grease to hold the seal in place, you slide the new valve into place. I had to do this four times before I got it into place with the seal. Best of luck.

I did it the easy way - paid the dealer to put in the Valterra valve! I haven't had a problem for several years now and still pulls with 2 or 3 fingers around it.

Same here, Tom. We had the SeeLevel Gages installed at the same time.
