2019 RAM MegaCab Towing

I have the opportunity to purchase a RAM MegaCab. This will be my first MegaCab. I will be towing a 3661RL. Bed size and the closeness of the 5ver to the cab is a concern. What concerns if any am I missing?

The mega cab is basically a long bed so turning radius is poor. With the right hitch, cab clearance can be a non issue. My B&W with the puck mount adjusts forward and rearward and at it's current setting I have no clearance issues.

Is the Sheep a 2500 or 3500? That 3661 is definitely in 3500 territory & bordering on dually territory. If it’s a diesel, you’ll be pushing it on payload & rear axle capacity for a SRW 3500. And yes, you will have to be careful on hitch selection and placement to avoid removing your rear window the hard way.

Until we bought the 2017 we towed with a SRW Mega cab and loved it. Plenty of room in the back for our three cats in their playpen. The 2017 had too much pin weight for a SRW so we had to buy the new one that's a dually. We have always had a Pullrite slider so we don't have to worry about that. We wouldn't travel without a Mega Cab.

Hi,

I run a 3500 Mega Cab SRW Limited (Heavy Extras, Less Payload) and a Montana HC 305RL.
The setup is as well with the B&W Hitch but the Turnover Ball setup.
Its also set as far back as possible and I have no clearing issues with the cab.
But I always watch it as it seems sooo close from the driver seat, but it always clears though.

Only issue with the Mega Cab I think is the Payload for SRW's.
If you want to stay inside the legal limits and of your standard tires you have to watch how and where you load.
I have 2 adults, 1 Golden Retriever, a 3500w Generator, DEF, Gas in the truck.

Attached is the Scale result loaded up for a 3 week cross country trip.

BUT I LOVE the Mega Cab. Its the best Dog Taxi ever

Mike
