I-70 trhrough CO
Anybody have experience driving I-70 through CO in late May? We are heading across from Utah towards the end of May and was wondering about road and weather conditions that we might need to worry about. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't expect any problems in May, but call the road report before you leave and while enrouite. (303) 639-1111

Thats about the time when all the orange barrels start to show up on many of the roads. Like many of the spring time flowers.

I-70 is a really good interstate highway. Its the connecting highway from the west into Denver Co. So its been made for heavy haul tractors except for the tunnel coming into Denver. All RV's are allowed in the tunnel with I think a 45 mph speed limit. Lot of nice campgrounds and for a while you follow the Colorado river. Campgrounds on the river with being in the $35.00 night stay. You will go up as high as 11500 feet up near Aspen. Enjoy the ride

It's a great ride on that route. But as stated earlier, check the weather as you get closer to the mountain passes. The tunnel is cool, but if you feel adventurous, Loveland Pass can be interesting too.

Also, time it so as to NOT drive it on Sunday. Just heresay, but it is packed going back to Denver. And on Friday going out of Denver. And by packed, I mean busy and stop and go.

You might run into some snow on the edges of the road, we have had a lot this year! It’s a good drive minus traffic/ road construction. Just watch the down hill grades and use your gears more than your breaks! Enjoy the views and drive safe!

I would not go over Loveland pass, lots of folks up there trying to get out and about. Besides it is steep and curvey.

What is Loveland pass? I thought that they were talking about C6 highway? Looks like I am wrong, can you set me straight....LOL

Colo hwy 6 goes up over the divide. At the top is loveland pass about 11,500 ft +/-. Not a great route in my opinion.
