Television Replacement

I want to replace the television in our Montana, does anyone know can they be replaced with a TV from the box store or are they special TV's like the people at CW would have me believe.

I replaced my bedroom TV with a flat screen LCD from Sam's Club. Any store brand should work just fine IMHO.

There used to be a lot of made for RV electronics out there. They claimed to be built to better withstand extreme temperatures, the jars of the road, and power fluctuations better than standard home electronics. In short they were constructed to withstand the rigors of the road. I guess too many cheapskates like myself kept going with the standard stuff, and in doing so figured out it would hold up just fine. I don't ever see the made for the road stuff anymore other than the AC/DC stuff and the Jensen TVs coming in the new Montanas. I have one in my bedroom. I said all that to say regular gear seems to hold up fine in the trailers.

Thanks for the advice, I'm a little cheap myself. Nowadays you just about have to be somewhat frugal.

Do not listen to anybody at CW. Any TV will work from any store .
My wife had me take out the bedroom one and put in a cabinet with shelves, for more of her stuff!

I like to thing that the Electronics ride in the RV is no worse than in the box that sat on the forklift, truck, container, ship, truck, forklift again and store stocker before coming home with me and into the RV

If I remember correctly we have used a LCD since back in 2006. We have two Samsungs in our 5th wheel a 32" came standard and the 19" I took our or our last 5er. We are on our way to the factory in Ind. to have the 32" LCD removed and a new cabinet top made to handle a 40" LED. Which we ordered on-line this will be our first LED. Hope its as good as the LCD's. GBY...

Shotgunred, one hint that you may find useful. When I removed the "Beast" from the bedroom I replaced it with a standard LCD TV. Our TV cabinet is higher than the bed so a person doesn't get true colors unless you are directly inline with the TV. I made my mount so it will tilt downward. I can adjust it to give an optimum picture when we are watching it laying in bed.

I replaced my TV in the living area (a 26" with a 32") it is on a articulated bracket that swings around when traveling. Purchased from Cosco. We hve a 2003 Montana 3280RL.
