I noticed in the 2008 Silverado Literature they are referring to the transmission in HD's As 6 speed Hydromatic no mention of Allison.
Can some one give me an update

You have to get the Duramax to get the Allison transmission. You might have been looking at a gas literature.

If you go on the GMC site and build your vehicle, when you select the Duramax it will show the Allison transmission.

Ask the dealer for a commercial or heavy duty truck brochure. There won't be a 1/2 ton truck in the brochure, its all H/D 3/4 ton and up. It will show Duramax/Allision.
Thats what I had to do when I bought mine.
I asked a salesman first about a diesel truck brochure and he brought out a 1/2 ton standard truck brochure. I asked him to show me the H/D section showing the Duramax/Allision combo. You would have thought I asked him about describing a black hole in space!

Talk to the Fleet manager he will be able to answer your questions. He deals in the HD side most of the time. GBY......

Thanks guys I had an Allison for 6 years no need for a new one. Just wondering why it was not in the literature thought they made a change. Nothing other than an Allison would support the torq
