'Jack antenna'

Noticed in new CW catalog that Jack has a new no crank up version of their tv antenna. I am pleased with the head replacement that I have now. I think I will get the no crank up version to replace what I have now.

Illapah,
Before you purchase I suggest you check the height of your roof for "road clearance". I looked at it and its Dimensions & Weight: 12.5”L x 16”W x 11.25”H (2.3 lbs.)
I believe the roof height is 12'9" so adding 11.25" height would put you 13'8.25" and over height.
Just a suggestion.

One of the things we noticed at Quartzsite this year was with the Jack antenna, the higher you can get it, the better reception you will get. I would suggest staying with the crank up version.

I am with John. That height is just waiting to catch something and be left laying in the road somewhere. The sites I had looked at listed the height as 12".

I have been looking at one also but as John said I think the later one would be to high. I want one but I want the one that hooks on the batwing arms. are they worth the the money?

in my opinion they are worth the money for sure. I am glad that there are MOC members here to keep my head on straight. The height issue was not taken into consideration by me. Saved me some headaches (and roof damage). I do have the head installed and think I do get better reception with it.

I believe the Rv height includes the ac. This would lead me to believe the antenna would be okay.

tomd,
You might be right. On our rig the high point is where the vent cover for the kitchen roof vent is and that is at 12' 9". I use 13' as my number for clearance. But again, the higher you can get the antenna the better and the crank up version will give you more height.

Jack
