Replace living room TV - concerns?
When traveling north on the Alaska Highway, a mounting bolt broke and destroyed the rear cover of our TV. This part is not available for replacement. Now that we are headed back to the lower 48, I am looking to replace it. What concerns should I have regarding a replacement TV? Our rig is a 2021 3791RD and had the original TV - 120V. Thanks in advance!

This is the link that Trekwood shows what TV's were used in that model year. I would just go to BestBuy or some other store that has a large assortment of TV's and find one that fits.

I replaced both of our TVs with Samsung LED TVs from Best Buy.

I replaced my Insignia (?) TV with a 50" Samsung smart TV from Sams. I think it was ~$300. The bolt holes on the back of the Samsung fit the mounting plate perfectly - but I had to reinstall the bracket arm on the wall and move it down about 1" so the Samsung would retract and fit in the opening.

We had to replace one in our bonus room. 3854BR. I got a Vizio from Walmart. Used exiting bracket, just had to buy different screws. 2 years, no problems.

I have a 2019 3790rd and had to replace the tv in the living room. But for the life of me I could not find a tv that was the same size as the original inspite of going to all the big box stores and some smaller electronics stores. Going bigger would not fit so had to go a bit smaller.
So.... in order to "hide" all the wires and cables that hung down and were unsightly, I installed a finished piece of wood that matched the finish in the rest of the trailer.
From a tv viewing perspective, we can't even notice it's a bit smaller. Also, it's a "Smart TV" where the original was not. So streaming tv shows off our cellphone hotspots has it's advantages.

We also have a 3791rd but is a 2022. Last October we were headed to Tennessee and drove on some bumpy roads and when we opened the slides we noticed our tv popped up and off the tv rack. Luckily the tv survived but it yanked and cut some of the wires. The tv was a connex which I had never heard of. We’ve decided to change the tv out with another 50” inch digital tv since that cannot handle Netflix or any other streaming services. So now when we travel we pack the around the tv with pillows and bungee chords to hold the televator from popping back up.

My living room TV has straps that clip together in front of the screen that hold the TV in place during travel. I add similar straps to the bedroom TV.

I find it amazing that a TV bracket mounting bolt broke and you didn't have blown tires if the road was that rough. I thought the TV mounting brackets and the attachment to the RV was about the most heavy duty things on them.
Like many have stated, just find a model that fits the opening. The mounting brackets and hole patterns are supposed to be a VESA standard, I think there are 3 different ones commonly used. They are supposed to be matched to the weight of the TV, not necessarily the size. If you find one that will fit the opening and the mounting bolt pattern is larger than your mount, you can buy an adapter plate from Amazon for about $15. If you go this route, I would advise attaching it to the existing one with some bolts and nylock nuts.
The mounting screws for the TV to the mount will always be metric, either 5mm or 6mm. Other than getting the right diameter, it's critical to get the right length. Using a bolt that's too long and overtightening can destroy a TV.
I don't know how rushed you are to replace, but there will be many Black Friday sales on flat screens.

Sorry for the delayed response - we have been on the road constantly since. We don't know when the one mount bolt broke but it definitely did. The other three were not up to the task of securing the TV on the mount and separated from the back of the TV - tore the plastic rear cover apart with the mount portions of the rear cover still attached to the televator mount. Remember this is a 3791RD with the TV in the very rear of the unit and any bouncing is magnified.
The TV still works but is no longer housed on the televator. When we return home (a couple more days) we will address the replacement. It has become rather tiresome carrying the TV from the living room into the bedroom and placing it on the bed for travel. Thanks for all the comments, we do appreciate them!

Old Salty, best of luck with the replacement. With the elevator on the TV, you see a different type of stress, especially on the roads in Canada and Alaska. I believe IS really helped the rig on those roads. Personally, I would go with the largest TV that will fit. If you purchased the extended warranty, that should be covered. We should be home from Alaska on Saturday.
