2019 High Country 310RE

After a couple months of researching and tire kicking, we decided on the 310RE. We visited many different dealers in several states.

We wanted to keep it 32' or under as we mainly camp in state parks,
national forests/parks as well as boondocking. We simply could not
find a 5er with the features we wanted in the 30' to 32' range so settled
on 34' max.

It came down to the Montana 310re and the 305rl. We found a dealer with both on the lot and we were off for the 6 hour drive from home. We fully expected to like the 305rl better as we were used to the rear living in our Wildcat. As soon as we stepped in the 310RE we both said "this is it".
Two weeks later and the 310RE is home and under the shed.
Its going to take me a bit to get used to the extra 5 feet in length and 2000 lbs....

We are new to Montana but certainly not to camping/traveling with a 5er.
I hope to learn and contribute to the forum. Look forward to sharing info
with you guys/gals.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Its going to be a long winter waiting to use it.
We may head south for a week or so mid winter just to hold us over until spring.

We spent a night at the dealers campground to go over everything and see if everything worked. We loved the extra room and features and looking forward
to heading west this summer.

My only concerns are the extra length/weight and height making it more difficult to get into the places we love to camp. The added height actually hit low hanging telephone lines on our road. I had been going under those same lines for a decade + with our other 5th wheels.

Luckily only minor scuffs on the very top corners of the front cap. Hope they will wax out when we get the next warm day.

decor choice?

We haven't seen a 310re yet and would like the linen décor but it looks like it's not available in eastern US. Also, my biggest issue is headroom in the bedroom. Tried many half ton models and they will not work. How is the headroom in your model?

You will have no issues with bedroom headroom in the 310RE. Its full height. In fact, that is my biggest complaint. Its too tall!

You mention looking at half ton models; Are you planning on towing with a half ton truck?

You can't tow any Montana with a half ton Truck! weather it's a HC or a regular Montana to heave.

Thanks for the quick replies! We may look at a 2018 today just to "try it on", about 2 hours away. We are definitely upgrading our truck currently a 1500 Silverado to at least a 2500 or 3500. Probably going to wait for the 2019's and pick up a 2018. We were looking at half ton tow ables and no way is the headroom enough. Will try to order a 2019 30RE as they are scarce in the northeast.
