Had slide toppers on last SOB. I noticed flapping during wind and also observed tearing of the fabric near the front mounting point. Did not go with them this time and wash slide tops just like I do roof.

This thread has been great for me in deciding whether to have toppers added to our new Montana before we take delivery. After considering all the pros and cons, I've decided not to get them -- for now. We'll try living without them and, if that turns out to be unbearable, we can add them later. We don't plan to move around a lot and, if I have to climb up and clean off the slides once in a while, so be it. A fella needs to get up there once in a while to check his roof for leaks anyway, right?

I have never had them on any of my units for the past 14 years. I have never had any leaks. I rarely clean slides before bringing by them with no problems.

We have always had them and would not be without them. To each his own.

As I stated earlier, we had toppers on our last two Montanas and didn't get them on our new 3160. After about 50 nights in the new unit, we are happy without them. We get a better night's sleep on windy nights. After 11 years with toppers, I am surprised to be saying this.
