Wheels
I presently have the original wheels (rated for only 80PSI according to Keystone) on my Monty and would like to upgrade to G614 (As a lot of folks on this forum have). The g614 is rated at 110PSI and therefore I need to replace my wheels with new ones. Can any of you folks suggest the appropriate size and cost of a Chrome wheel? Also the cost of a G614 Tire ?
Thank-you
Greg

I would suggest you get in touch with Tredit, the supplier to Keystone and verify the rating on your current rims. Check with Sam's Club on the G614. Talk to the Department Manager to order them because they are probably not in stock. Someone else will have to guide you toward good rims.

Ditto Stiles, I was under the impression that the steel wheels (which it appears you have) were rated for higher pressures. A quick glance at Tredit's web-site reveals that similar looking 6 lug spoked steel rims are rated at 3750 pounds, which I would think would allow for the higher pressures. Send them a larger photo via e-mail and they can tell you exactly what you have. Here is what they appear to be:

While you're at it, if Tredit says you're wheels won't hold the pressure, get a quote from them on new wheels. Some have found better deals elsewhere, but others have taken Tredits offer and been happy with them.

This is the e-mail response I received from TREDIT after sending along a picture of the wheel:
Quote:
quote:Good afternoon Greg,
That wheel should be rated for 3750 @ 110lbs. The wheel will have the weight rating stamped on the backside of the wheel.
Have a great day!

With this info I should be able to install the G614 LT235/85/r16.

Good news, I can honestly say that I don't give the tires a second thought now that we have the 614's. Go for it and don't look back!

Thanks for the support.. just on the side TREDIT is pricing an upgrade to aluminum wheels for me.
I will be ordering the G614 from Sam's Club in Niagra Falls, NY.
We can't get these tire in Canada from what I was told from my local Goodyear dealer.

Just received response from TREDIT:
Quote:
quote:Good morning Greg,
An aluminum wheel in a 16” 8 lug would be $103.04 each. You may view the aluminum wheels that we have to offer on our website www.tredittire.com.
Have a fantastic day!

Just as an afterthought, if your 3400 was an early build, chances are it only has the 6000 pound axles, which would then mean that you would be fine with some good LT tires (Transforce, Duravi, etc.). Look at your weight sticker on the side of the camper and you should be able to tell what axles you have. The axles should also be stamped with the weight. Our 3400 had the 6000 pound axles, but the axles were upgraded to 7000 pounds on subsequent builds. Our manufacture date was late 2006. Worth checking, many forum members have had excellent results with LT tires, which can typically handle a 3000 pound load which would work on 6000 pound axles. At least you might have a ore cost reasonable alternative that is worth checking into.

Does anyone know anything about these tires: http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.p...&nichtweiter=1
Like the Goodyear's, they are 14 ply rated, but a whole lot cheaper. It says they are made by a US supplier, but that doesn't mean they are made here.

It might be worth your while to purchase a national brand so that if you have an issue out on the road, you are more likely to find support. Just a thought.
See my signature for what I bought.
