Pollak connector

Has anyone replaced the connector from their Montana to their truck? If so how difficult was it?
We bought a 2020 GMC 2500 HD and the current connector works ok but we've been told we need a Pollak connector for the new truck.

If the stock connector is working, why would you replace it? On our 2012, we full time and we are still on the original cord and connector and have had zero issues. Did someone give you a valid reason for replacing the connector?
