Moonshine tasting on Saturday night!

We are working with Old Forge Distillery to come out to our Rally on Saturday afternoon late (~5pm) for a Moonshine tasting in the pavilion. Old Forge has many flavors and, of course, straight moonshine. We are still working on the details, but I’m collecting a list of who all is interested. So please reply if you want to come.

There is no cost, but if you decide you’d like to buy some to take home, you can drop by their tasting room before you break camp at the end of the rally.

Since this is tax-free weekend and traffic will be bad on Saturday, this will be a good activity to have fun at the campground. After the tasting we can prepare our dinners and just eat in camp. If you’ve never had moonshine, I’d advise you plan on a simple menu. No complicated food like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that require a knife.

Let me know!!!

I live one county over from Franklin County. The moonshine capital, or so they claim. Everybody here knows somebody that makes some. I know a guy 5 miles from hear that makes it. One of my best friends father hauled moonshine for Curtis Turner, one of Nascar best drivers in his day. My wife's grand parents made their living making moonshine. For me I wouldn't touch the nasty stuff, just don't like it.

mlh,
I was born and raised in Bedford Co., second to Franklin Co. in the moonshine activity. You being from Salem, you bound to have heard of "Taylors Mountain". Many quart jars have come off that mountain! As far as the Pigeon Forge micro distilleries, they have on-premise tastings and have some real good stuff......not our fathers moonshine from yesteryears! Ha. Enjoy!

Oh yes ,it's small world. A about 10 years ago the Feds busted a little country store near here. They had sold tens of thousands of gallon milk jugs and several thousand pounds of sugar for every citizen of the county. I'm sure they had no idea that it was used to make shine. The store owner went to the pin for several years. The good old boys can't have any fun any more.
