Black/Grey Tank Cable Pull Lenght
I have to replace both the Grey and Black Tank valves on my 2007, 3400RL,
Montana. The pull cables are located next to the convenience center in the basement. From looking underneath the camper (without dropping the underbelly) it appears they are only a couple of feet directly behind the cable handles. Does anyone know what the length of the cables are? The parts store said they carry two sizes and as they are an hour away, it would be nice to only have to make one trip.
Thanks,
Neverhome

I have a 2014 model 3402 and mine take 72'' cables and i am pretty sure yours do also. I believe the 3400rl and 3402rl has the same floor plan and if so then the 72'' cables would work as they do on most rv's. I could have used the 96'' cable on the gray tank as the valve faces the opposite of the black tank and you have a tight turn on the cable going to the tank but it had a 72'' cable from the factory so i left it the same. If you get one 72'' and one 96'' then you are covered for sure as you can shorten the 96'' if need be.

Just did that job Monday. Replaced both 3" waste tank valves with Valterra 72". I have the next generation floorplan of the 3400 series. Keeping the seal from rolling was hardest part of the job. There was a really good tip in an older thread regarding the change out. Lower the front of the coach and no nasty surprises.

On my 15 3100rl they were 72, but when I replaced them I used a 72 and a 96. Using the 96 on the grey tank allowed a much gentler bend.

like any plumbing job, 3 times is a charm for running to the store. get several lengths and then return the others.

Odd, but my 2008 3400RL that we had and purchased new didn't have cables at all for the holding tanks. There were metal rods instead that had T handles on them. Actually they were more reliable. Are you sure you have cables on your 2007?

That's what I first thought but when I called the RV service department they asked how long the cables were. I got the same question from another service center.

Those guys could have been behind the counter at a convenience store last week. Check it for yourself!
