New truck tires
I have to get rid of my Bridgestone Duravis M773 II tires due to age (cracks in side wall). I only have 30,000 miles on them, but they are six years old. I just visited with the local tire rep I favor, and he recommended either the Michelin LTX M/S 2 or the BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain T/A. Does anyone have any experience with either of these tires?
Thanks in advance.
Bob

I have used michlein for 8 years and had zero problems. My trailer is much lighter than yours, tho. I think the axles have less than 10,000 lb on them. I have been to Alaska, Maine, and east coast (3 trips) and around 60-70K miles.

The Michelin seems to be comparable in tread design to your duravis'. The BFG's are much more aggressive. I just bought Firestone TransForce AT's for my truck. Both the AT and HT version have proven to be excellent for long wear on my plow trucks at work. My brother is running the HT's on his 2500HD as well. He is on his second set he liked them so well. It didn't hurt that we got an excellent price either.

I have the Michelins. In fact I've had nothing but Michelins for over 20 years with zero problems. We'll except sometimes I develop a heavy foot and the back tires on my truck don't last as long as they should.

When the original Michelins on my truck needed to be replaced I decided on Firestone Transforce HT primarily due to cost difference ($350 for the 4 tires). Have been very happy with the Firestones. Have 40,000 on them with zero problems and judging from remaining tread should get another 20-25,000.
Either the Michelins or BFGs you mentioned should give you good service but can be pricey.

Firestone Transforce HTs on my rear four and Goodyear Wranglers on the front. I had to replace the front ones first so when it came time to replace rears I found a great deal on the Firestones so I put them on my Monte and the rear if the tv.

Ours say BF Goodrich Rugged Trail TA on them, but ours were built in 2011. We've put over 40,000 miles on them. 2/3rds of those miles were towing the monty and 1/3 at least were on Arizona jeep trails. Have had not a single problem with them so far and fully intend to replace them with the same thing in 2015.

We have run Firestone TransForce for years, both on the trucks and trailers.

Just posted this on the tire topic: I replaced my original General tires that came on my F350 when I had less than 20,000 miles. I didn't want to but I swear I could get stuck in wet grass with those tires, I hated them. I went with BFG Rugged Terrain T/A load range E. I felt it gave me just enough of a snow tread but still would be a good road tire. I now have over 10,000 miles on them and really like them. They are wearing good and they came with road hazard and free lifetime balance/rotation.

I have Michlein on both my RAM 2500 & 2003 Acura. Changed out the Acura for new set of Michlein at 60,000 miles. RAM tires have 55,000 & I'll change them when I get back to Illinois. They'll have almost 60,000 on them by that time. Best tires I've ever had. Would not buy another brand.

I have Michelin LTX M/S 2 on my 2500 Ram. OEM tires lasted only 20K. Great road tire. Not as aggressive tread pattern as others but I seldom go off road. Back end will squirrel on wet road if I'm heavy on the throttle and not towing but I would expect that from any tire. I'll likely buy these again when they finally wear out. Supposed to be good for 70K miles.

I had the BFG Rugged Terrain tires on my 2011 SRW Ram 3500 and got more than 80,000 miles out of those tires. I have the Michelin LTX/MS 2 on my 2012 Ram 3500 DRW and would not get them again. These do not do well in the snow and ice. Next time I would go with the Michelin LTX A/T's instead for better winter traction. Had no issues with traction or wearing on the BFG's mentioned before. Really comes down to your personal choice and what you want to spend on tires as both tires will get the job done for ya.

BFG Rugged Trail TA's on my F350. Five years and 60K miles. I just replaced all 6 with the same tires. Good for another 5/60!
