Well, we had to have the GMC taken to the dealer yesterday. We've been hearing some strange squeaks in the front suspension lately. I raised the front wheels and checked the bearing when the noise first started, and they seems fine. Well, we had a new noise start that sounded like a front tire separating. I jacked the front end up yesterday, and low and behold; lots of slop in the left front wheel. Dealer called back later and said the right side was bad also.
I've been running GM products with the sealed, non serviceable front bearing for years and have gotten good service from them. In fact, the 91 Chevy at the stick house has over 230,000 miles with no bearing failures. This truck has less than 70,000 miles. Wonder were those bearings are being made? Somewhere in Asia? Regardless, seems the cost is up and quality is down.
