Electric water pump

Two days ago it worked. This morning nothing. On off switch would not light up. Disconnected pump wires. 12 volts from house wire. Thought the pump bad. Replaced pump. Same story. Checked old pump with 12 volt battery and it worked. How can there be voltage but when connected to pump it doesn't work? Maybe something simple that I am missing.

Could your water line be plugged, so the pressure never allows the pump to come on? Just brainstorming, never heard of this, but pressure would keep the pump from running.

The pumps have a built-in pressure switch that senses when water pressure in not at max value. This allows pump to turn on/off when you open and close a faucet. If the pump does not cycle when you open a faucet, then the issue is pressure being held on the output line by a kinked line, colapsed section, or who knows what. My guess at the issue causing pressure switch to not see pressure drop. John
