Cleaning Nose Cone

Anyone have the best solution for cleaning bugs off of the nose cone? This is my first unit, a 2017 379RD, that has the full body paint
Thanks

Dryer sheets, soap, water and elbow grease. Once its clean, a good coat of wax will make it easier next time.

Sooner you clean easier it is. Part of our setup routine, clean the front cap. Have an extendable squeegee, makes it simple.

Yep. Dryer sheets for me also. Just abrasive enough to easily take the bugs off without damaging the surface.

Whaterever you use to clean the front it will no doubt remove any wax or sealer as well. Frequent wax or some kind of protectant is in order.

Purple Power! Get it at Advanced Stores. Use about 30% PP and water. Squirt it on brush lightly let soak for a few minutes wipe it off. Repeat of necessary.

I’ve been using Purple Power for over 30 years it’s never harmed anything I’ve ever used it on. I’ve used it on aluminum, enamel and clear coat paint, rubber, plastic and everything else you can think of including my campers and new 2018 truck. If you like using elbow grease use something else. If you are like me and wont to get the bugs off your camper without all the work try it. I think a gallon is ten or fifteen dollars.

Baby shampoo. Easy to find, inexpensive and you can also wash your hair with it.

We use Dawn dishwashing soap in water and a soft brush with extendable handle that we use to wash our rvs.

We use Pledge spray in wax on the rvs and the motorcycle fairing as well!

Has anyone ever used one of the products out on the market that notes for use on autos and Rvs, etc which has a ceramic type base, brings out the shine and makes a slick finish touch? It seems that it would be especially good for the cap area since it deflects both dirt and bugs, supposedly. Makes sense! High dollar but might be worth it if it deflects the bugs and likewise has a shine. Here is a link on one of those products: Produxa

Believe it or not

I use WD40 works awesome on bugs and tar. Will not harm the paint and leaves a nice shine.

For the really tough bugs I use a mixture of rubbing alcohol, water & baby shampoo. After bug removal wash as usual followed with wax.The alcohol is also good for tree sap & anything organic & doesn't harm the paint.

50/50 mix of water and white vinegar and a little elbow grease.

We also spray the nose with baby oil before heading out. Most bugs just wash off afterwards!

I have thought about either having it done to my pickup or doing it myself. It’s very labor intensive for a pickup, very expensive, $500 and up usually around a thousand. The kit for a DIY is under a hundred but if it isn’t done correctly it’s a waist of time. I’m a little on the fence, maybe, maybe not.

I tried it on our ford excursion & I can fix or build almost anything, but I definitely wasted 250$ & a saturday, I was defeated. No matter what I did it just seamed to get worse, finally ripped it all off, had a couple of beers & made an appointment at a local detailer that did it. It is truly an art & when done correctly it is fantastic stuff, most class a's seem to come with it no reason not to do it to a fiver.
