New to this site

My name is crystal and I'm new to this site. My husband and me are from west virginia and we have had our mountaineer for a few years now. Our converter has went bad and I can not find a replacement for it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I could use all the help I can get. Thank you in advance for your suggestions

Welcome aboard! Should be fairly easy to find a replacement converter. Can you get a pic of the label of the existing one? Is it part of the power center or a stand-alone unit?
Can you tell how many amps it is?

Info from her previous post in September...
The unit is 2012 Keystone Mountaineer 345DBQ.
Here is floor plan, and the "spec sheet" from RVUSA says it has a 55 amp converter.
(In the previous post she called it an "inverter" - but I think she means "converter")

Yea, a picture is best if we are to help. Alternatively, a description from the labels on the converter is second choice. The Mountaineer in 2012 is hard to guess on what converter was used. It could have been a WFCO (although I think that was earlier) or a another stand alone one, or even a Progressive integrated one.
Replacements are easy to find. It just depends on whether it is a stand alone or integrated type converter.

As I have a 2013 Mountaineer, I am anxiously awaiting an answer (in case I ever need a replacement). My 2006 Monty had a standalone, as I added the plug in thing that did something to make it better (can't remember back 15 years what it was). Seems like standalone would be easier than an integrated one.

I can't offer any advise on your converter issue, but I can say, WELCOME to the forums!

I would make sure if I was replacing one that it was future proofed. This one has the lithium charge capability and also the charge wizard. Progressive Dynamics PD9260CV Inteli-Power 9200 Series Converter/Charger with Charge Wizard - 60 Amp https://a.co/d/0EmQfkj

Our 2010 Montana 2955RL had a Stand-a-Lone Converter, it quit working and found that it's plug had worked loose from the outlet. Plugged it back in and used several cable ties to keep it from happening again.

You had the stand alone IOTA converter and the IQ 4 plug in module that made it a "smart" converter.

Thanks Carl. I haven't had to track down my converter on the Mountaineer yet, but hope it is behind the pass thru wall.
However, for those that are integrated into (I guess) the fuse panel, does it detach somehow or do you have to replace the whole thiing and re-attach all the wires to the fuse panel? Thanks.

Tom: Replacing the integrated converter is easy. Obviously disconnect all 12V and 120V power, disconnect the AC 120V power wires to the converter, disconnect the 12V wires to the batteries, remove 4 screws and the converter slides out. Reconnect the wires to the new unit, slide it in and screw it down. All done.

Seems like quite a job keeping track of which wire goes where, etc. Especially in such a tight space.

Tom: You don't disconnect all the 12V and 120V wiring from the circuit breaker/fuse panel. Just what feeds the converter unit and the converter''s 12V output. Four wires and they are obvious where the y go. Piece of cake.
