3810MS Skylights

Hi again. My 3810MS has two skylights, one in the shower and one in the hall area between the bathroom and the master bedroom.

In hot weather the heat really pours in from those.

I bought two vent covers but they are the size of the fan vents. They work great for that. But not for the skylights.

I bought some window film (3M), cut it to size, put velcro around it, and applied it to the inside of the skylights.

It definitely helped a little but I personally have never thought those films do that much good.

I am wondering what anyone else has done to stop the heat from the skylights short of removing the skylights.

We put the film on ours and then took the inner liner out and added silver bubble wrap to cover about 2/3rds of it. Plenty of light still comes in but way less heat. If you want more heat in the winter you can always take the bubble wrap back out.

I made quilted covers that velcro on so that I can remove them easily when I want the sun. So far it's been pretty effective. If you'd like a picture for reference, I'll take one when I'm back in the camper. -Maureen

We, too, use the foil bubble insulation for the wardrobe skylight. I've seen the window covering mod some use on the shower skylight, but the DW is happy with how much light come in through there. Plus, living in the Northwest, haven't had a bad problem with heat there. The only reason the skylight is covered in the wardrobe area is because the DW wants to minimize as much light as she can while sleeping.
