Are they cheapening up the new high country’s?

I previously had a 2017 hc 352 rl. It was just totaled out from a collapsed roof on storage building this winter. I’m looking to replace it but finding lots of things changed. No more frameless windows on the hc? Awning looks to be like a cheaper version they used to put on lesser models. I may have to get a different brand. Any thoughts or opinions on this?

I think you are correct, kinda like cereal boxes, same size box, 2/3 amount of cereal. Have you bought coffee lately?

If you are asking about another brand there seem to be more and more grand designs out there. downside is that there are many dealers...at least not where I live.

It’s just disappointing knowing I can’t really replace what I had with a new Montana. I’m gonna have to weight my options. Maybe I’m being picky but those frameless windows make a rv look way better

Across the board the whole RV industry has cheapened everything!! IF you want quality it will cost you much more than any Keystone or even Grand Design product will cost ya. The complete RV industry is into quantity , not quality at the current time.

If you are buying a new RV or anything thing you really ought to compare everything out there. Buy what is best for you. After all it is your money.

I read somewhere that they still do frameless windows.
Its a optional package and the windows will be dual pane then.

I had a 2015 HC and like a idiot I sold it and missed RVing I looked around at the new HC and didn't care for some of the options and the build quality and I am not a fan on cable slides so I ended up getting a 3120RL full Montana and I love it. I think what is worth looking at if the model says guaranteed for fulltime living and is a four season trailer. I looked at Grand Designed and they were ok if you get the high end and no the Reflection but I am a fan of Keystone now the GD was bought out by Winnebago but than again Keystone is owned by thormotorcoach.

You are correct, High Country did change the windows. The frameless is no longer a standard feature. Some people don't like the frameless. The frameless open much less than a conventional slider window. So High Country made the frameless an option with the dual pane feature. That way if a person saw value in the frameless they could still get it. High Country took the money from frameless windows being standard and added a second 15,000 btu air conditioner as standard. And always remember the living room air conditioner is already a 15,000 air conditioner with heat pump and quiet cool ducting. In 2017 the second air conditioner was optional and only a 13,500 btu.

We have had several other brand fifth wheels and we looked for three years for a new one. We bought the HIgh Country for the floor plan only, and love it. No big issues that cannot be fixed or is any different from the quality in the SOB’s. But when you are looking for a “middle class” FW, Montana’s are a good choice, and less expensive. I think everyone will agree quality is down, and HC’s are no different. But when we loose our traveling buddies, retire, and go pretty much full time, we will be glad to get away from the Thor products. But for now the High Country is everything we paid for. Good luck and get out and travel.
