Rear fresh water holding tank

On my 2010 3400RL. There is a fresh water fill on the drivers side rear. This seems to be an extra fresh water tank. There is a tank fill on the city water connection which I assume fills the fresh water tank. My question is, what is the purpose of the extra tank? Is it plumbed into the fresh water system, or is it strictly for ballast for weight distribution?

I believe there is only one tank, just 2 different ways to fill it. You can fill with a hosr thru the rear or use your city water connection to fill from the convenience panel.

Yep, same as mine. The tank is oriented cross-ways with its connections for water in and out, tank level indicators, etc near the street side of the rv.

Same on my 2007. One tank with two ways to fill.
