Lightning strike
Our camp host job came to an abrupt end Sunday night. One lightning strike at the end of a rainstorm, hit a tree 30 feet from our satellite dish, dug a trench through the ground to our coax, ran through 80 feet of coax and into the Monty. After the fire dept. left and the smoke cleared, we are lucky to have minor damage, thanks to the Progressive HW50C. It took the lick, even blowing the top cover off. It's in the shop awaiting an estimate, but by what I checked out we lost the Samsung tv, the dish 211 VIP box, 3 LED lights, the satellite coax to the entertainment center, and possibly wiring to the lights. This after surviving 60+ MPH winds during a thunderstorm at an outdoor pavilion for my 40th high school reunion Saturday night. What a weekend!

Lightning does strange things and serious damage. We had a strike about a half mile from our S&B home that still took out an Ethernet hub/router and a couple of other little things. Haven't had one near our Monty, but do have a Progressive (portable though).

I bought the Progressive due to praises from here and other websites, and it is really deserved.

I saw the tree Monday when we was walking.......what a thrill that must have been (not)! Hope your upcoming adventure is not as eventful!

Yep, shook the camper pretty good. Was really looking forward to pulling with the new truck, just not this soon.

Sounds like it still could be a lot of damages, but no fires and no one hurt so it's not as bad as it could be. Lighting is a very powerful force both in a stick house and a mobile one.

Yes, this is as close to a strike as we ever want to be.

You have to wonder how much worse it may have been without your Progressive equipment. At least no one was injured and the Monte can be fixed or replaced.

I think the Progressive saved the Monty from burning down. JT.

Not saying the Progressive unit did or did not work, but your lightning strike bypassed the Progressive unit and caused a direct hit to your rig by way of the coax. At the very least, every inch of the coax and all the stuff connected to it will need replacement. All the 12 volt circuit that was connected to it also will need replacement.

Yes, it did.The coax is fried, the TV and sat box are dead, along with the led lights in that slide. It did backfeed to the Progressive, killing it and blowing the top cover off, pulling all of the metal well nuts out of the case. Hopefully that's all that's damaged. Wrong time of year to get work done fast!
