Furrion misleading customers

After doing research and watching numerous YouTube videos about the Furrion camera system I decided to install the system on my RV. I installed the 4 camera system with the 7" monitor. After installing the system I come to find out that you can't view all 4 cameras on the screen at once. Furrion and other sellers (Like E- trailer) make it seem like you can in the videos. Yes, you can select all camera view from the menu which will bring all 4 cameras up on the screen but it is only for about 5 seconds then it reverts back to the last camera you were viewing.
I called Furrion to see if I was doing something wrong. The rep told me no that's how the system operates. You can't view all 4 cameras at the same time. All 4 cameras will come up on the screen so you can make a selection on which one you want to view. If you don't make a selection after about 5 seconds it reverts back to single camera mode.
Furrion advertises this system as 4 camera observation system. They even sell a wall mount so you can place the monitor on the wall in your RV and use it as a security camera system when parked. The cameras even have motion detection to turn the monitor on when it senses motion. What good is it if you can't have all 4 cameras on the screen at once?? That was the major reason I bought the 4 camera system. I spend 900+ dollars, several days installing and drill holes in my RV, for a system that doesn't allow multi camera view.

Really? Did you leave it in multi camera view for at least 10 sec? I'm going to call Furrion again and see if I get another tech rep. Maybe they changed the software on the latest models for safety.
Like I said I tap the screen twice then select view all. All the cameras come up for about 10 sec then it goes back to my rear camera view.

Update:

OK I just got off the phone with Furrion. In December Furrion decided to changed the software so as to not allow full time multi camera view. They said when the system was in multi or 4 camera view there was too much of a video lag/delay which presented a safety issue.
I am not happy with that decision because I really wanted the multi camera view when I was parked but I understand their reason. A friend had a 99' Class A with a factory back up camera and because of the delay it caused him to put a hole on the back of his RV when he was backing up to hook up to his trailer. He said the camera showed about a foot distance between the camper and trailer when he hit it. Then the next thing he saw was the tongue in the back of his camper.

Last2Die, When you get a chance can please due a comparison in video lag between single camera view and multi camera view and post the results? I just installed my system so I haven't been on the road with it yet.

Will do, I had to return the side cameras and new ones are on the way, the factory set angles were off on 1 side. Yes I left it for several minutes and I was doing the adjustments on the back camera and learning the system. Even with the 7 inch screen the picture is so small when all 3 or 4 cameras are on. Maybe I got older firmware..?

ok thanks. you probably have the old firmware. You know now that you mention it I was thinking that the angle on one of my side cameras was off also. I haven't taken my RV on the road yet to check it but sitting in my storage unit it looked like one camera angle was different than the other. I was thinking nah can't be it must just be the way the RV is sitting in the storage unit. Now I'm going have pull my RV out and check them.

Now I’m hoping they are all not made to be a little off. I was told you are supposed to just barely see the rv in the side cameras. Same here I haven’t road tested either.

Not trying to start anything negative here but as a retired trucker with 20 years and 3,000,000 accident free miles I don't see the real need of any of these rear view cameras. If one has proper towing mirrors and monitors them as he should he will know what is behind/beside him. Just something else for someone to get their hand into your wallet.

I agree and I have had my camper for 5 years with no rear camera and have had no problems. The reason I installed a rear camera is because I will be carrying a scooter on the back of my camper and I want to keep an eye on it. Yeah I know we’re not supposed to do it but thats for another thread...

Later tonight, I'll hot wire my 7-way to turn the running lights on so the cameras activate and take a pic of the side cameras views and four camera screen (it's parked, but should give an idea of the side view angles).

I never used one in the past 19 years with any of my trailers. Since it was equipped and this trailer is 8' longer than my previous, I added the cameras.

It also helps me see tailgaters like the one in the pic.

It appears the full view on each side you can just see down the side of the trailer....almost parallel. With the four camera view, it crops the sides a bit.

Great thanks. I'll check mine out next week when I go camping. I just installed them and made sure they worked. I didn't have time to mess with them. jetskier I guess you have the old software also that allows you to view all cameras at once..

That’s pretty much the same setup I have. It’s hard to tell but can you see the side of trailer in the cameras..?

Not the side or walls, but I can see down the side to the back. It's hard to tell in the photos because the slides are out. The drivers side is better than the door side. The door side appears to be a few degrees off the sidewall.

No one said they needed them. They just want them to work as advertised.

Ok talked to Furrion support again . They are going to swap out my monitor. They are sending me a new 7” monitor that will allow me to view all 4 cameras indefinitely plus a return shipping label to return my original.

Actually Furrion was very accommodating. The first time I called it was just to find out if that's how the monitor was supposed to work. That's when they told me about the software change. I just said ok and hung up. After I thought about it for a while I called them the second time and told them I wasn't happy with not being able to monitor all 4 cameras when parked because that was the reason I installed 4 cameras. I didn't have to argue or anything. They just said that they would swap out my monitor for one with the original software and it was done. I will receive the new monitor on Monday.
